    Moving To Irvine from Colorado

    Questions:

I am relocating to Irvine from Colorado. I have a CCW permit in Colorado and Carry a Glock 26 with a G17 or G19 magazine with a magazine sleeve.

From what I can tell I will have to go with a 10 round magazine for my Glock.
and California will not Honor my permit.

Next question is I would like to bring some guns with me to take shooting after work or on the weekends at the Range.

The Guns I would like to bring are the Following:

    Ruger SR-556c
    Remington 870 tactical
    Glock 26
    Kimber SS Ultra Raptor ii
    ruger LCP

I know I will have to get a 10 round magazine for my Ruger SR-556c and a Bullet-button.

Will I have to register the Guns in California?
Is it legal to Bring them to California?
Is it legal to have the guns Lock in the trunk my car?
Is it legal to take the guns to the Range?

How do Gun competitions work in California with out the use of 17 or 30 round magazine.

Any good Gun Clubs to join in Irvine?

    Any advice would be appreciated

    Thank you
    Richard

I'm originally from Colorado as well. My advice....stay there!
Seems like your up to date... You will need to file paperwork with the Doj...so yes you will register your guns... Leave your mags in Colorado ...or dissamble them in parts kits...only 10 rounders allowed here

      Lots, and lots of reloading.

And no, I don't know of any gun clubs in Irvine, though there are a few indoor ranges you can be a member of around here. There's On-Target in Laguna Niguel, OC Indoor Range in Brea, or Firing Line in Huntington Beach. Drive about an hour and a half, and you can either get to Burro Canyon or Angeles range. Both are outdoor ranges.

Yep made a similar move a few months ago. Now no more CCW, only 10 round mags and dang bullet button on most of my semi auto rifles. Oh and if there are any handguns that you were thinking about buying in the near future, see if they are on the DOJ approved list HERE and if not buy them now

Buy me a Ruger 22/45 in stainless with wood 1911 grips.. 5 inch flutted barrel.. I will pay $100 over your cost.

God I hate this state.. You'll like Irvine though.. very clean/safe city full of lovely trophy wives.

just means CA residents can't easily obtain one.

And I'm pretty sure you don't have to reg your rifle/shotgun, but the handguns you will.

Here's the info from the CA DOJ http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/pubfaqs.php#24

It means you can still bring it into Cali since you're moving here. The folks here just can't buy a new one if the darn handgun is not on the list!!

I moved to CA from AZ a few years ago. Go ahead and cut your sack off with a sharp knife and one clean stroke. Cause having you balls squeezed to the point of rupture really sucks.

That said, there's a few indoor shooting ranges for handguns near Irvine but plan on an hour one way to drive to Angelas or Burrow Canyon for rifle shooting. I went from shooting 2 to 3 times per month to 2 to 3 times per year.

God I hate to say this but get ready to have your gun rights neutered. Us responsible gun owners here in California tend to get use to the BS thats imposed on us here but it will be hard to adapt to the laws if your coming from a free state. I dont mean to scare you but its reality. With that said, WELCOME TO CALIFORNIA!!!

You CAN shoot rifles (up to .338 Lapua) at On Target in Laguna Niguel (20 min from Irvine). When you get here, feel free to PM me if you want to get to know the CG locals. We have a shoot there on the 2nd fri of each month.

a word of advice for you if you want to make a few bucks, buy AR 15 stripped lowers in colorado, and when you come here you can register them as pistols and you can make a good profit selling them here as pistol lowers. It is the only way california residents can build AR pistols, if someone from out of state brings in a lower and registers it as a pistol. You can usually sell them for 300-400% what you paid for them.

You have all your answers here accept you will need to configure your 556 legal before entering the state, this means removing AW features or rendering the rifle as fixed mag using the oh so famous Bullet Button, I'm assuming they work with your Ruger 556 just as well any other AR. Search for CA AW Flow Chart.....
