Questions about belts for ccw. fail also ;)

My current belt is old so I decided to try it out inside the house to see how it would fail if I ever tried to carry. It warped like hell . What belt would you recommend to me? I usually wear slacks and dress shirts so I want something black and "dressy?" looking. I just picked up the galco concealment owb holster that I'm trying out in the house to loosen it up. Should I try a Bianchi belt? Or a galco belt? Any specific places to buy from at good prices? Also, good techniques to loosen up the holster a bit. Thanks

Try "the beltman" or milt sparks. I have both and LOVE them. Well worth the wait. Either way just make sure you get a belt designed to carry a gun. It makes all the difference.

It really depends on how heavy the gun is. Whatcha packin'?

I'm carrying a m&p9c. I forgot to add, how much bigger should I get the belt? My current size36 belt fits on the last whole. If I get any fatter, the belt will not fit anymore. Should I go with 38 or 40? 40 Seems way too big for me but the holster takes a good chunk of space. Hopefully that last part makes sense.

i like that belt, but I would like it in black with silver instead of gold. The design is what I would like. So carry belts don't bend at the loops of the holster?

nope. real carry belts don't flex. UBG sells black with silver buckles if that is what you want. the website gives directions on how to size up the belt. also, he doesn't make the holster until you order it so their holsters and belts are truly made-to-order.

Carry belts are usually recommended to purchase 2" over your normal size. Sounds like your belt is actually about 2"-3" larger than size 36 (if you're on your last hole). The size is usually in the middle of all the holes to give leeway for expanding/contracting. Check the website for the belt you're planning on getting and it will tell you how to purchase the proper size belt.

I use TT's Gunleather, Crossbreed, and Beltman belts and they're all great. I was thinkin' of a Milt Sparks next but another Beltman in Elephant skin is sounding pretty good right now. I can't help ya if you want a nylon belt since I don't have any.

I don't wear a belt. I order the 1 3/4 clips and this stays up and in place excellent.

Another +1 for The Belt Man

I have a horsehide belt from him (with no other "add ons" like internal stiffeners, velcro). According to the website, the horsehide belt is stiffer compared to the bullhide for what it's worth...

The build quality on the belt is just plain awesome. I got a 1-1/4" brown belt, and I'm happy with ever dollar spent. It's a nice and stiff belt (at first, I wasn't use to it because only thing I had to compare were dress belts), and holds my 5" M&P up in a OWB holster without a problem..and I mean no sag what so ever. Looks wise, it's a belt that I am now wearing almost every day with jeans and button downs. In black, I can imagine it would look a little more "dressy", only reason I went brown is because most of my loafers are brown.

Bottom line is that I think it's just a high quality belt that's worth the money and wait time. I'm thinking of getting another belt from The Belt Man in black sometime soon as well...
