Ruger 1911 - Finally Here

As I'm certain Ruger is making a nice 1911, I have no desire to want one, as there are enough 1911 choices out there. Besides, my 1911 platform choice has always been Colt.

I agree with Mickey on this one. Im a huge fan of Ruger revolvers and rifles. Not so much on Ruger auto pistols though except for the MK II. If it aint a Colt 1911, then its just a clone. Im just old school I guess......

My son works at the plant which manufactures these. (He makes SR40 slides). The SR1911's have actually been in limited production for some months, specifically to avoid some of the recall issues they have had in the past.

He has handled these and said they are nice.

Trust me, you DONT want Ruger to make that thing CA compliant.

Ain't that the truth. The LC9 is the worst piece of garbage I've ever seen Ruger offer.

Then, I suppose it will be two years before they are actually available to purchase.

From my experience with the way Ruger has done in the past I'm guessing they're going to pimp the f*ck out of it in the gun rags, create a ton of hype, but not produce it in any sort of quantity until something else has taken the lime-light. I swear they have the sh*ttiest marketing/logistics communication problem I've ever seen out of a large company.

Actually since they have been in production for a while hopefully there should be some actually available. Ruger is trying to remedy the issues they have had with availability.

The mandatory re-testing every 2 years is a revenue generator. They won't abandon it unless the court or legislation throws it out.

They wont.At $1500.00 for each model sold in CA.The DOJ is making money left and right.

Guns and Ammo just did a complete write-up on this pistol. In the article, they mention that the street price should be around $640.

Even with the added cost of the single shot exemption, this is looking like an excellent deal on what I'm sure will be a well built pistol.

Bump for additional info on who would be willing to do the single shot conversion and ship it to a local FFL.

I'm wondering if it meets all the CA certified criteria. States it has the loaded chamber indicator, what about mag disconnect? Would this be required?

Where does it say that? Judging from the pictures, I don't see any loaded chamber indicators on it (assuming it would be similar to the other SR handguns).

That's a SA M1911A1 GI, not a MilSpec.
