I keep hearing everyone on the internet saying that ammo prices will be going up May 1st and exactly on that day across the board. Anyone else hear about this? I've been seeing and hearing about it everywhere. I wouldn't be surprised if it's related to inflation but why May 1st?

I haven't heard anything about it, but I would not doubt a lot of places are starting to see shipping costs go up. This means prices are soon to follow.
When was the last time Nachez raised prices noticably?Comment
-
I heard it was every manufacturer raising prices like 15% or something.

Why would they uniformly raise prices?I am a law enforcement officer in the state of Colorado. Nothing I post is legal advice of any kind.

It's true. I think cabela's has a notice too. All ammo and components going up 5-15%.
The price of raw materials is up, so everything else is gonna follow.

Could be a few reasons...
Fuel prices are causing an increase in shipping prices from the raw materials to the finished product. Also, it's summer soon, and with an increase in demand so goes the increase in pricing.
Of course we can't forget about our diminishing dollar. Inflation alone is probably the cause for all of the worlds problems.

Do I see another shortage in reloading components coming soon? Along with a whole lot more reloading newbies?
I shouldn't be one to talk - I was one of those reloading newbies a couple years ago during the primer shortage...er, price gouging.
Time to go hoard some powder and primers...

I was just at a gun show over the weekend - Pricing I noted was actually lower and ammo was in abundance - I didn't note components though -Comment

I talked to a Federal rep at a gun store about a week ago and asked him this question. He said no, not across the board and not all mfgs. However Sportsmans Whse has already raised prices on Remington primers at least two weeks ago and more than 15% if I recall correctly.
The Federal rep said that prices on ammo and components have been low, but will probably go up some due to factors mentioned in several posts above.Comment

One of the reasons costs across the board are going up is that companies that did not provide health insurance to their employees are now required to pay for health insurance. That alone increases the cost of keeping any business open, thanks to that lovely obamacare.
Businesses have increased overhead = We pay more
Fuel prices through the roof = We pay more
Weak dollar when most of our goods are imported now = We pay more.
Crappy leadership = ... you get the idea.Comment
