I'm going to assume it isn't River City Gun Exchange since every time I'm in there someone is answering the damn phone.

And, "Fool me once, shame on..." eh, it's not worth it. Post the shop and ad or don't post a thread at all.

Doesn't matter if the "web guy" screwed it up. They have to honor the sale price. I would speak to the manager and tell him that what you are doing is called bait and switch/false advertising. I would ask him to honor his ad and sell me the gun at the advertised price. he probably won't believe you about the bait and switch and most likely thinks you can't/won't do anything about it. Well actually you can do a lot about it. The Federal Trade Commission take it seriously because bait and switch is illegal. I personally would make a copy of the ad write a complaint the the FTC and then and take them to small claims court for bait and switch/false advertising. Now before anyone says i am just sue happy that's not true. Some people only understand the 2x4 method.
You advertise something for x amount then sell it for x amount. ive had this happen to me before and I filed complaints I don't like having my time wasted by a idiot. So you waste my time Im gonna make sure you waste some of yours.

This thread is bait & switch and completely useless without the name of the shop in question. What a waste of time!

Totally agree... And it is illegal to do so, however if it is legitimate mistake they are allowed to address the issue. Twice isn't legitimate and forcing an upsell in my mind is a definite no go. Post the name or delete the thread due to it's complete and utter waste of the interwebz...

Sounds like the gun shop owner used to run a car stereo shop...that's a classic(and very cheesy) scam.

Yep. Anyone can post a thread about "a certain shop" and it could be a totally bogus rant. There are only certain shops that advertise anyway. Like said above, RCGE advertises, but they are usually really good at answering phones.

If what you say is the truth then posting the shop name is not only perfectly O.K. it would really help out the folks on CalGuns. I ran all over town yesterday because one of the shops did not have a mag in stock that I specifically called ahead for and was told they had it. I ended up at Wild Sports after calling them, which I have not been at in quite a while, to not only get great customer service, but to find out their prices are better on most if not all of their pistols.

hummm SBR eh....I haven't posted anything on here about them but.. I went in while preparing to get into ARs and found them to be a bit rude, overpriced and dismissive. Then again with all the lookyloos and tards that go into a store like that can't say I really blame them a whole bunch.

After thinking about it lol I usually go to Wild Sports too except they don't do EBR stuff. I got my Custom II from Wild Sports. They can be a bit rude and dismissive too lol. My favorite place though. Not real sure about just guns yet been there a few times not impressed or not impressed really.I have not formed a opinion on them yet.

Yeah I haven't really felt all that welcomed when I've gone there either. Perhaps it's because they don't realize how much money I spend on guns/accessories every month. Perhaps they'd treat me differently. LOL

I don't know where the OP is having issues but that was my experience. I am glad to hear I am not the only one with a bad experience there.

I saw the thread on here advertising those stripped lowers and said I would be in the following weekend to pick one up. The following weekend I drove out there (its got to be about 100 miles one way from me) and when I walked in not one person said a word to me. There were a few people in there but they weren't super busy. When someone finally came to help me I said I was there to buy ones of the CMMG lowers advertised for $99.95. He grabbed one and told me they were $139 and the Spikes lowers were $99 but they were sold out.

I said that their advertisement on here said CMMG lowers for $99.95 but was just brushed off. The guy helping me just said "must be a mis-print"

Needless to say, I wont be shopping there again, even if I am in that area. 4-5 hours and a half tank of diesel wasted.

I partially blame these un-welcoming, "we don't need your business", elitist attitude gun stores for our struggle with our 2A rights. Going into a gun store for the first time can be intimidating and for someone who is already on the fence about the issue, going into a gun store and being met with this kind of attitude could possibly sway them the wrong direction.

Does the bottom of the ad have any disclaimers?

ie, Not responsible for printing errors, picture may not be representative of item listed, items may be substituted without notice, etc?

If no disclaimers (sometimes even with), then the business may have committed fraud and can be held liable.

Anytime you run into this, ask to speak to management. Give them a chance to make it right. If it isn't a mom/pops store you can always go above their head to get your way. Corporate will almost always give you what you ask for.

SBR will never see another dime from me or anyone else I know; there are friendlier, more knowlegable, honest dealers out there. There are too many ffl's around these days to deal with the bad ones.
