Awesome. Sucks they found it though.

The MG 42 has a firing rate of over 1200 rpm and is nicknamed "Hitler's Zipper." I saw one fired at a machine gun shoot over ten years ago, and it went through the ammo in seconds.

I had a buddy in the 70s that owned an MG42. Along with an STG44 and an MP40. I fired a 50 rd belt through the 42 and it was gone in an instant. The gun sounds like a bedsheet being torn in half when it is fired. The German Army uses MG3s still and seeing a group of German infantry emerge through early morning mist with a couple MG3s and camo cover on their helmets like I saw at Graf in the 70s looked uncomfortably like late WW2. The SGM of the German brother battalion to my unit was a WW2 vet having survived duty in 1945 as a 16 year old in the German home guard. He thought the current crop of German soldiers were pretty soft but then all SGMs think that way!

wow...they didn't evacuate the airport when they found a gun...that takes balls...the whole place could have been in danger of the gun jumping up and started killing people...or exploding like a bomb....

No evacuation of the capital's airport was ordered, but authorities were placed on alert
