The name Jacumba just sounds scary, I wouldn't go unless i had a big group and we were all armed up the Whoohaaa

Depending upon where in Jacumba ya go (south of I-8?), yer likely right next to the border. Expect stupidity to happen.

        I was recently down there.

SDG&E purchased most of the BLM land that was good for shooting. They put up "No Shooting" and "No Trespassing" signs. Law states that you cannot discharge a firearm on private property without written permission from the owner so long as there's at least three signs posted every mile around the perimeter (which there is). Violation is a misdemeanor.

I had a BP agent contact me and let me know about it. He was super cool and laid back about it. I packed up my stuff and we talked about guns for an hour or so. He said that SDG&E contracts a sheriff officer that's a total prick (his words, not mine) that will arrest on site and confiscate your guns.

So I wouldn't go down there again until I find a better spot.

Not to derail from the recent status of that area...But we used to go shooting out there a lot in the late 70's, early-mid 80's. 4 wheeling in the dry riverbeds, it was right next to the border. There used to be an old house that everone shot the sht out of. Came across some "bad, hard" hombres a couple of times coming up from the other side with rifles and side arms, you always wanted to be there with at least a small group with a lot of guns. Used to hunt quail around there also. Good times.

Go a little further past Jacumba to Ocotillo and shoot there. Take Dunway road off I-8 and go south on a dirt track and set up anywhere in there. Its all BLM. Expect to see BP agents, but they are always cool about it.
