Retired Cop Shoots/Kills McDonalds Robber in Sunland

    Details are scarce.

A retired Burbank police officer shot and killed an armed robber Friday at a McDonald's in Sunland, Los Angeles police said.

The shooting occurred around 10:47 a.m. when an armed man walked into the restaurant on Foothill Boulevard and attempted to rob the clerks at gunpoint, said Officer Greg Baek of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The retired Burbank officer then fatally shot the robber, Baek said.

Los Angeles police detectives were investigating.

A good way to threaten somebody is to light a stick of dynamite. Then you call the guy and hold the burning fuse up to the phone. "Hear that?" you say. "That's dynamite, baby."

Second criminal in a week to get shot and killed in Sunland. Area still cordoned off with several officers on scene as of 4:45pm.

Tactically, I'm glad the holdup man didn't have a "sleeper" watching his back or this could have ended differently.

Interestingly, they point to a VW van as being owned by the retired cop. That guy is there all the time. Has NRA stickers in the back window of his van. I've talked with him. Nice guy.
