I have all three calibers, if the 9mm doesn't work for you I'd just step up to a 45. I don't really get the in between thing of the 40. It kind of reminds me of those "cross-over" vehicles which are little more then lifted station wagons.

I use a glock 21 (.45) for home defense but I love my Sig 226 (9mm) too."We're surrounded.....that simplifies our problem."

I don't personally enjoy firing .40 because of the price & recoil. Love my .45 acp for its bang-for-buck delivery.
In a perfect world (where someone else pays for my ammo) I'd go with .357 Sig.Fools don't fit in the boots that I tread in.Comment

I think they're all good choices. .40 is my choice for a carry gun and .45 is my choice for a HD gun (if I'm home, the HD gun just has to keep the bad guys away until I can get to a long gun).
5 or 10 years ago I would've rejected 9mm as inadequate, but looking at recent photos (such as the one earlier in this thread) of gel tests, it looks like the wound profiles for 9mm v .40 v. .45 are getting awfully similar, and particularly if you've got hi-cap mags, there's something to be said for having 17 rounds in your mag and 34 more on your belt.
I bought a G17 a couple of years ago because the ammo prices for .45 and .40 have been so high lately, and I think it's a great gun."[T]he liberties of the American people [are] dependent upon the ballot-box, the jury-box, and the cartridge-box . . without these no class of people could live and flourish in this country." -- Frederick Douglass (1892)Comment
