    Vegas Gun Show

Anyone going to the Vegas show this weekend?
Is it worth it (better than Costa Mesa)?
Is there anything special I should know (besides that I shouldn't buy regular cap mags unless they get disassembled before I come home so they are just parts)
I'm planning on an ammo buy, a parts kit or two, maybe reloading tools (depends on price) and maybe get a muzzle loader if the price is right.

The trick is to convince a friend to go and pay half the gas. We can go there and back in a day so no more costs besides fuel and food...two tanks.

          yea, fly down

Cause it's real easy to get gun parts (and ammo) on a plane.....

I almost started looking for flights, then I thought.

$60 and I have to find a way to the show (taxi), then drag a bunch of heavy ammo back to the airport...oh wait isn't there a restriction on amount of ammo I can check. What about any parts kits, BP firearms... If if weren't a gun show I''d consider it.

Wait a minute I drive a car that only costs $40 to fill up and get 30+ mpg on trips. I'm driving 500 miles, so thats about 17 gallons, not really two tanks, and I'm taking a friend (who helps with gas) so I'm only spending about $25 on gas. I don't think I want to pay an extra $35 for the privilege of taking airborne mass transit.

Most of the nicer hotels have business centers where you can fax and mail stuff. I know that - for a fee - MGM will wrap it all up and send it where ever you want.

Depending on which type of friend you are taking to Vegas.. that can be good or bad.

More like 6. How much time would be spent at the airport getting butt probed? I'm trying to get another friend to come along too. We'll make a party of it. And if it's too much driving I'm sure we could find somewhere to stay in Vegas and enjoy the rest of the weekend...

A friend of mine used to fly up there, buy what he wanted , then before leaving would go to a pack & ship place and FedEx the stuff back to himself at home. Saying that however, he wasn't buying ammo, just parts & stuff.

I heard this is a good show with lots of stuff to buy. It will be my first time there. SHOT is more like something for models, this one is if you want to buy stuff.

A lot better than the San Mateo Show, and I am not talking about just the firearms either.

I did not buy any firearms but there were a lot of weapons there that were reasonably priced and if I had the cash I would probably be walking home with some stuff by now.

Lot of accessories and lots of mil surplus stuff. A lot of the stuff were priced well if you shopped a little. If you had cash, they did not charge you sales tax.

Ammo Guy in the front, had all sorts of stuff. Wolf .223 went for $110 for 500 (which is a decent price these days) and he also had PMC for $270 per 1000 along with other brass ammo that was less than $300 per 1000. I did not look to closely at ammo prices because I really did not need any and I had a budget.

                          Picked up the following:

                          (all prices below are cash)
                          - Aimpoint ML2 for $360
                          - USGI Frag Vest. Well used and faded but still in good decent shape. $50
                          - German Parachute Flares to 1200 ft. Bought 6 for $40.
                          - GI compass (clone) $10
                          - SHTF Utility Vest w/holster $59
                          - Chip McCormick 1911 mags, bought 3 for $48.
                          - Cali-optic 7x50 Binoculars $185.
                          - And a whole lot of other small items.

I don't know why I bought an Aimpint, my Fakepoint has served me well, but I guess I bought it because I like designer labels like Prada and LV

Can you guess which one is the FakePoint?

German Paracute flares. These go to 1200ft and will make night into day. Has parachute for slow decent to the groud.

                          Directions for flares.

I know this screams airsoft but I don't have a SHTF vest so I might as well start with something. I was surprised how well made this vest was and it only costed $60. Only holds 3 AR mags, and 4 pistol mags, but it has molle loops in the back if you want to add more AR magazine pouches. Also has holster, and top pouch for First Aid kit. Two bottom pouch, maybe a flashlight in one, and knife in the other. This thing will go great with my Camelback backpack.

USGI Frag vest, very well used and faded but in decent condition. No holes either so you know the integrity is good. It was the last one at this price. The others were in excellent condition but cost twice as much.

Cali-Optics Binoculars. I would put these up any day against Leupold. Everything is crystal clear and the light collecting ability they have is unreal. They come with compass inside and a range finding hashmarks. My friends even liked them a lot.

Don't know who she is but she is ultra hot!!!

Just got back. I got a parts kit but need to get some more things and time to build my rifle. Got some surplus ammo 7.62x54r, 7.7x58 Jap, 8x56r and some 9mm reload ($115 for 1000 rds of 124 grain FMJ) saw it and bought it since it's cheaper than WWB at Walmart. Almost bought an antique Argentine Mauser for $225 but by the time I talked myself into buying it (due to price) it was gone. Didn't see any good priced BP revolvers. Also got a bunch of magazine repair parts for several of my friends. If I have extra parts I may post then for sale.
I must say, all the pistols I saw, as well as the rifles you'd see in California were cheaper. The amount of used handguns, of thing you can't get in Cali was just amazing. It is motivation to move.

And as a final good touch to a good day I stopped in Jean for gas and cheap buffet lunch, and as friend took a leak I threw 4 quarters I had in my pocket into the closest slot machine and won $5.50 back. So my lunch was very cheap!
