Do you call firearms 'weapons?'

It's a weapon.

We argue that the 2nd Amendment protects our pre-existing right to weapons so that we can defend our rights.

For now they are adult toys used to punch holes in paper.
When used to acquire meat , they are tools.
If needed for protection against an attacker be it a hog , bear , mountain lion , or two legged beast , you could then call it a weapon if you must.

Calling it a "tool", "sporting/recreation equipment", etc. is stupid. It's a weapon, don't sugarcoat it for anti's and don't play their game. We have a constitutional and God given right to protect ourselves with weapons. When evil comes to my door I'll grab my weapon, you can grab your tool.

I call them "firearms" but I occassionally refer to them as "weapons" depending on the conversation.

Reason? Because that's what they are to me. I don't hunt because I'm a vegetarian (wife's a vegan), I don't compete, and when I go to the range I specifially "train" for self defense intentions. I change hand grips, stances, hands, magazine changes, etc. My weekly trips to the range are to make me very, very comfortable with every gun I own. Unless I take out the bigger guns, I "train" at self-defense distances. My friend recently did a Tactical Response class and this is something I would love to do in the future.

Even my non-SD guns, like my Mosins and my .303 Enfield's - I look at them and ask myself, "How would this be used in a defensive situation?"

I also prefer my wife (who grew up with guns) to be profficient with a rifle. As a team, if SHTF, we should be able to stand our ground. Nothing is more important to me than protecting my home and wife (and hopefully children!).

I'm an avid mountain biker/nature lover for recreation.

My guns' sole purpose are to be used as weapons, just like the baseball bat next to my bed is not intended for baseball.

hmm...

I call my guns by its make and model.
when i'm out in BLM land doing my 'tacticool offensive' training, their weapons.
when i'm out on the bench with family and friends, i call them ' happy memories, bonding with the family, peace and love', etc. whatever i want...
when i'm at home and i can't find a hammer, i use the buttstock and call it my 'nutcracker'
when i'm asleep and i have my AR rifle next to me, i call it 'honey, alice, or babe'
when its locked up, i call it 'it pissed me off so i put it in detention' (i don't have kids so i don't really need to lock it up)
They are MY GUNS, I have a RIGHT to CALL THEM WHATEVER I WANT...

seriously though, generally i call them MY GUNS, or by its make and model with MY in front of it.
