Package stolen!!!

Maybe someone can clarify...

I didn't read anything about the package actually being stolen, just that an expected package didn't arrive. No mention of tracking or anything. Is it possible it was just delayed with the holiday? Seems to me there is a disproportionate amount of packages that go "stolen" from doorsteps of members on this forum.

FedEx left a wood case of HXP on my front porch today....the shipper emailed and said I see you got the delvery....I swung by the house and yes on the porch.
I took it inside and emailed the seller back.....yes got it.

I try and send all my sensitive packages to my work buy not all sellers are willing to deviate from the main/home shipping address.
Signature required should be a must.

I have most things shipped to work. Problem is I work for a school district so that's a no-go for ammo and god forbid my big boxes of Mosins.

Simple solution.

Paint one of these the color of your house and turn it on the day you are expecting a package. It will take a nice photo of the punk when he has your box of ammo in his hands.

Take picture to the police and file a report and post the picture of the wannabe around the neighborhood and offer a reward. At least you will get 1/2 of your money back.

I'd also get the model that have IR flash so you can take pics at night and they would not even know a picture was taken. Also get one with a high megapixel so you can zoom in on the theif and show his face to the neighborhood.

Hopefully the thieves think your ammo is cool and start screwing around with it, promptly permanently blinding themselves or blowing a few fingers off.

They would really have to screw around with it. Ammo is really stable.

The thieves are now aware you have expensive rifles at your house....

I have a friend who used to work for UPS. He told me that ammunition is the most stolen item out of the UPS system, and most of the thefts are by UPS drivers.
They enter it as "delivered", take the package home, let the insurance take care of it.
Obviously could have been a theft of opportunity by a passerby as well.

That is interesting. Good to know since I have some ammo on the way from CMP.
Though I have gotten ammo before without issue.

That is pretty funny haha. I should hang one in the back of my gun cabinet.

In my neighborhood if someone reports too UPS that a package was stolen from a home UPS starts requiring signature from everyone in about a 6 block radius. The company I work for uses UPS to warehouse and ship out repair/service parts. These parts can be small and expensive. The company cost can be several thousand and the part may be coming from far away and be rare. So I installed video monitoring. As far as signature required goes with FEDEX you can have your sig on file and not have to be home each time don't know if UPS has this but if its a problem it might help.
I have a neighbor who is a bike nut and orders parts delivered UPS. He chains a metal trash can to his gate when UPS shows there are instructions on a large board attached to the can in case the UPS person is stupid and the can is labeled PLACE UPS HERE. Driver drops package in can and locks lid with supplied lock now his part is safe and sound. A little nutty but it works.

Awwww crud. Never really gave it any thought that once someone steals ammo from your porch, that they now know you have weapons in the home. Almost don't want to mail order ammo now.

I always do the insurance because UPS always leaves the big box labeled ORD-M sitting right in the open. I don't have the signature though because I sleep during the day and there's not always someone home to sign.

Because they're lazy. Ammo is heavy. They don't want to hump it back to the truck, back into the cage at end of shift, back in the truck tomorrow, back...back...back...

I had FedEx drop a 'signature required' package on my doorstep a few years ago. Problem was, it was an M1 receiver from the CMP.

I actually went down to the local FedEx center, got the manager and asked her why their drivers dropped this package off with no signature. I further explained that the driver left a firearm unattended on my front step even though it said 'signature REQUIRED', and sometimes there's a reason for the shipper/receiver not wanting it to lay around and how would she feel if her driver left a gun that was later stolen and used in a violent crime (even though we all know that the receiver needs parts, but I wanted to send a message). After she got the 'holy $%^*' look off her face, I suggested that they abide by the delivery instructions on the packages that they have legal custody over, at least for my address.

No problems since (knock on wood)...

Yah i agree with some people here. Drivers are usualy lazy and don't require a signature. My roommate ordered a TV and they left it behind our garbage can in our car port...

I've ordered bulk ammo many times online and they usually just leave it right in front of my front door. Super obvious. If your worried next time try sending it to your work. If you work in an office, receiving and shipping for your company usually will accept personal packages and hold for you.

I never have anything firearm related sent to the house...always to a place of business where it can be safeguarded until I pick it up. Ammo buyers in the LA area- I deal with one guy locally who seems to have some great prices!

I never ship anything to my house anymore. For $150 a year I got the small box down at the UPS store. It's a small mailbox but it comes with an address that ends in a suite number so all carriers deliver there and I can accept any size package there. Virtually eliminates all possibility of theft.
