I've noticed this disturbing trend as well. Their "phrases of evil" have progressed over time. First it was "machine guns." Then it was "assault weapons." Now it's "semi-automatic." Seriously. This is f***ing absurd. They haven't the slightest clue about weapon design, and they just throw these terms around in an attempt to group AK-47s and Glock 19s into the same category of weapon. What a joke.

It also says something about our side, how when we attack the problem with pruning shears, the weeds grow around the other direction. We need to start using RoundUp to take out the roots of the weeds rather than just trimming the shoots.

I am always wondering why, if semi-automatic weapons are indeed "then why does the military not abandon those inaccurate, less deadly F/A versions.

Because they don't have to pay for the ammo, and most are select fire any how.

ehh...I saw that interview as well... I think he was trying to error on the side of semi-auto versus full auto as he has seen the wrath of folks like us reminding those in the media that there is a difference [...]

I remember during the Elian Gonzales incident, after Elian was "retrieved" by the feds (and the famous picture of him was all over the news everywhere), Chris Mathews couldn't stop bellowing "BANANA CLIP" every time he mentioned the fact that the agent appeared to have his gun pointed at Elian and his relative in the closet.

Fundamentally Chris's show (and his persona) thrives on angst and drama and that never, EVER bodes well for a discussion about guns that has anything to do with facts.
