DROS Residency Address Question

Thanks for the help (you saved me at least an hour wait in line today), called in. And they looked into it and said it would be ok. I don't know why they gave me contrary info last time.

I find often that some FFLs will look at something and if it seems to simple, it cannot be allowed. Like that was such an easy solution there is no way that will fly for the ATF. We have to make you go do a ton of work in order for it to be legit.

On a more serious note, there are hundreds of rules, regulations, and laws that deal with being an FFL. We simply can't be experts on all of it (or it takes a lot of effort to be). So arming yourself with the law and some knowledge, you can educate FFLs.

They told you no the first time because they didn't think it was legit. Armed with knowledge, you convinced them it was.

Need help. Drove 3 hours to start dros and the FFL says no go. I have a valid CDL with the brown card. A print out from the DMV watermarked with my residence address. A utility bill with current address and all 3 match. The FFL says I MUST have a car registration with my address on it. It's Saturday and AAA and DMV are closed. What's the REAL rule here.

I'm irritated.

Additionally. The reason for not accepting the DMV H6 as proof of residency is that it has no expiration date. I can't find anywhere on any form or website where an expiration date is required.

Sounds like a real pain in the azz dealer.

They can start the DROS and you can bring something when you pick up the firearm. There is no law which says you must have a car registration. Property tax bill, voter registration card, if any of your utilities are government owned they would work.

Even the 4473 states a simple "combination of items" can be used...all this business about "expiration dates" and so forth is extreme...but if it's what the dealer wants...you're kind of stuck with it.
