how much actual energy are those huge cannons actually developing? Most of the power in the powder charge is going unused due to barrel length. I have a .444 marlin 15" barrel for my Encore. It's nothing but really loud and hard kicking and makes huge fireballs.
Point is, I'd think that a dedicated pistol cartridge with a proper powder for use in magnum pistol rounds would generate more actual energy even though it wouldn't be near as showy. Wondering if the .500 S&W doesn't make more real energy.
Now stick that .600 nitro in a rifle and it becomes something really impressive.Comment
