    SAFE QUEENS (picture thread)

What is a safe queen you ask?

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For other uses, see Safe Queen (disambiguation).

A gun loved so much that it never leaves the safe, a gun that is cleaned and cleaned again yet never gets used!

And here is the Safe king!!!

Sorry, no "safe queens" here. I shoot EVERYTHING I have....even my 118 year old Winchester model '87.

I shoot everything in my safe. The only one in it that might ever qualify is my AR, but only because I hate cleaning it.

lol, per your definition no... I'd call it a "Safe PITA" though. It still gets shot plenty.

when i think of safe queens i typically think of a pair of deep blued colt pythons rather than an AR... take it out and shoot it!

You see I have a problem I have 3 AR's but where I shoot it's patrolled by forest service LE and they don't know what is going on when it comes to gun laws, so I shoot my .223 Savage more than anything else.

                    My safe queen:
(although I do shoot it from time to time )

                    It's too late, it's over.

O.K., here's my Model '87. On the off chance that there is someone here that is not familiar with them, they were available in 12 and 10 gauge (not sure if any other gauge). Mine was given to me by my wife's grandfather who received it from his father-in-law, who got it from his uncle when it turned up in his effects after he died. He bought it new in 1893ish. A major fire at the Winchester plant apparently burned all the paperwork that had serial numbers and manufacture dates. I checked on line and it's estimated to be manufactured around 1893. This shotgun is the reason I got into reloading shotgun shells. I apologize for crappy lighting and low quality pics.....

It looks like rust on it, but it's not. That's what's left of the original bluing.

In the movies, Terminator 2 and the mummy returns, they used one of these shotguns, hopefully the same one. Arnie was shooting one (sawed off) when riding the Harley through the river bed and then Brendin Frazier had one in the mummy returns. They completely stopped making them in the 30's I believe, so the ones that were cut up in the movies are the real deal. Rumor has it some company, probably Norinco, was talking about making them again but I'm sure if they did they'd be crap. A buddy of mine has 2, 1 in 12 and the other in 10.
