The reason that certain manufacturers like sealed cans is twofold - no problem with "replacement" parts floating around (a single suppressor part is considered to be a suppressor into and of itself) and they'd like to have their proprietary designs remain proprietary.
There is a third reason as well - for military use a can that can be disassembled can become a useless piece of gear if the thing is disassembled and reassembled incorrectly - better that the can be sealed and remain grunt proof.
