One of our deputies(Kern's finest) did the exact same thing a few years ago. However, rather than shooting his leg, he blew a hole in the ceiling in the courthouse.
He was unloading it to put it in his locker for the night. I never understood that. Unload it to put it into the locker, only to pull it out in the morning and have to load and rack it.

Every time I unload my Glock I check the chamber at least twice from different angles to make sure the light isn't playing a trick on me. Then when I pull the trigger to de-cock the weapon I always expect a "boom", but it never comes.

I guess when you get lax this is what happens. I always expect the worst so it's always in a safe direction.

        Really?

If he was preparing to clean it, the trigger must be pulled before the slide can be removed.
        XD is the same way.
Well, the trigger may have to be pulled, but the magazine should have been pulled out and the slide racked a few times and visually inspected first.

Operator error, he is lucky he doesn't have a stump. Too bad he didn't post the x rays of his ankle, that would have been impressive.

He could have got them, they are releasable to the patient although he may have had to pay a fee for copying. Most hospitals today use digital imaging, so films could be downloaded and edited into film.

I always double check my glocks before taking them down. I also keep live ammo far away from them during maintenance.

I am guessing he had it loaded in the home for HD reasons? I try to avoid "playing" with live ammo whilst at home or not at the range.

It isn't just "glock leg." This poor guy did it to himself with a 1911 and was thoughtful enough to make a page dedicated to reminding everyone not to make the same mistake

It forced him into early retirement, and hurt him BADLY.

Whenever I clear my weapon, mag comes out first, slide gets LOCKED back, and a visual inspection is done. After visual inspection, I release the slide and rack it two or three times, then lock it back again.

That video was very difficult for me to watch. Then I hit the mute button on my computer and didn't have to listen to Creed anymore.

I shouldn't make jokes though it's a pretty serious topic, I mean, do you realize there are some people out there who actually like Creed? We should help those people
