What's involved in shipping ammo? Is it O.K. for a private party to ship ammo to another private party?

Not so much, you have to jump through hoops and fed ex won't do it unless you carry "certification" for ammo and stuff...it's a pretty decent hassle.

You need to ship it through UPS via their "ground" service level or through FedEx Ground. Those are your only two options. If FedEx Ground gives you any grief then take it to UPS.

You need to package it up really good and mark the outside carton with....

There are no additional fees for shipping ORM-D packages. I print up a shipping label and pay for it on the UPS web site and then just hand the package to my UPS driver at work when he comes in. Here's a thread where I posted some sheets of ORM-D labels you can print up at home and tape to the shipping carton...
