Do I have any recourse?

I ordered 3 LPKs directly from PALMETTO STATE ARMORY LLC, and paid with my mastercard. I requested USPS shipping with delivery confirmation and they did. Here's what happening to my package:

1) The tracking number shows that it's out for delivery on 12/30/2010.
2) I received the pink slip "Notice of Delivery" from the mailman to pick up the box at the Post Office on 12/30/2010.
3) I was at the PO on 12/31/2010 and after 30 minutes looking, they couldn't find my package at the Post Office!!!

They said when the mailman left the pink slip in mailbox, he should have scanned to say so (notice left) in the system. He didn't and the system currently says it's out for delivery since 12/30/2010.

My regular mailman wasn't working that day, otherwise, I would have received it already. I saw him and told him about the situation on 12/31/2010, and he said he will look when he get back to the PO. I saw him today and he said he didn't see my package. I Since I paid by my credit card, do they offer lost or stolen packages protection to buyer or cardholder? I've bought a lot of stuffs throughout the years, and this is the first time an item is lost in the mail at the local Post Office. Thanks in advance.

Did they look in their safe? Seriously, that has happened to me, they stuck it in the safe because it was noted as registered, and the pink slip didn't note that.

Speak directly to the postmaster. I had it happen to me before and my package was located in 3 days.

I just saw someone go back to a main post office the other day, saying that his package was not found, but then they had found it and notified him. He was there to pick it up. Seems like this does happen. I wouldn't blame the seller, I would get USPS to investigate.

I would give it a few days to turn up, otherwise, ya, your credit card usualy has some sort of loss insurance, give them a call.

I had a delivery dissappear for a week, then it ended up back at the sender.

I am not positive, but I think the Post Office requires 30 day wait for a claim...

It may show up through the post office. If not contact copes and they'll take care of it.

They do it all the time. I got a Notice of Attempted Delivery for a DPMS Bolt and Carrier and when I went to pick it up at the post office, they couldn't find it.

The next day my carrier showed up at my door with it.

And what facts lead you to this conclusion?

If the mailman was stealing, he certainly wouldn't be leaving a notice of attempted delivery.

Why accuse the mailman of a FEDERAL CRIME when you have nothing to back it up. It's offensive.

Why is the "Grab the torches, pitchforks, and a length of rope" attitude becoming so prevelent around here.

And I do not work for the Post Office.

We're talking about government employees here... They probably went to the back bathroom, sat down, cracked open a newspaper and spent the next 30 minutes in bowel movement land. After cleaning up, they walked back out front and said "Sorry, no package."

Of course, I'm stereotyping here, the people at my post office are awesome.

FYI UPS and Fedex have horrible stories connected to them. I've had an entire rifle kit stolen from one of my boxes right inside the local UPS depot. The tracking info even stated something like "package found opened with all contents missing." I know a few felons and multiple dishonest people who work for UPS.

USPS has by far been the most reliable when it comes to getting stuff delivered. They're also 2-3 times faster.
