    Have a rifle...have a scope...now what???

    Hello all,

Is there a basic course on mounting a scope to a rifle and the use of the adjustments? Or is best just to youtbe it or buy a dvd and learn that way?

I also believe that Brownells and Midway offer short tutorials on things like that along with other gunsmithing procedures. Just check their websites.

you are also going to need some ammo... then a trip to the range... its not that hard to figure out.. turn one adjustment at a time.. if it gets worse then you are turning it the wrong way...
Boy the way Glen Miller played, songs that made the hit parade, guys like us we had it made, those were the days, and you know where you were then, girls were girls and men were men, mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again, didn't need no welfare states everybody pulled his weight, gee our old Lasalle ran great, those were the days!

Which rifle and which scope? Do you have the rings installed yet? Here are the videos on Brownells: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/tid=3...h/Instructions

The first time you go to adjust your scope though you may notice things move in the opposite direction of what you were trying to do This is due to the controls typically moving the point of impact rather than the cross hair. For example, when the control says "down --->" when you turn the knob that direction you are moving the crosshair up! Took me like 10 times to get used to it.

+1 youtube helped me build a house and a bridge. It also taught me how to shoot a gun and brush my teeth. Mounting a scope should be no problem w/ youtube. Make sure you get the tall and short rings, it's the quickest way to cant your scope

Be a pal there's starving gunsmiths out there.

You Tube is job security for gun smiths! No offense but chances are you will make a minor mistake or at the worst crunch your main tube. I would get a good base and set of rings, march your parts, scope, and gun into a good smith. Have him mount it, while you're there to set the relief to your liking. Then have him bore-site the scope. You should at least be on paper when you go to dial it in at the range. Watch him do it once, then maybe down the road you might feel a bit more comfortable pulling up a You Tube video and mounting your next scope. Good luck!

Put your location in your profile instead of a witty, useless statement. If your nearby, I would be happy to help.

I'm in the same boat as you. Got the rifle, got the rings/base, scope, shooting mat, rifle rest bag, gun safe, soft case, torque screw driver, and a few boxes of ammo. Just need some free time off of work to visit the range.

I've contacted a few places that offer handgun classes and such, but nothing for scoped rifles. http://www.westcoasttacticaltraining.com/ these guys did add me to the mailing list and told me to just hang tight, and keep an eye out for a scoped rifle class when they get around to it.

Good point G. Updating location. My location is East Bay, near Castro Valley. Bulls Eye would be the closest gun shop to me.
