    Bringing ammo into shooting range

How do you guys bring your ammo into a shooting range? Just bought my gun and want to fire off a few hundred rounds tomorrow I don't have an ammo can or anything like that yet. Also, do i need to have a visible lock on the gun case? In my case, the oem glock case it comes with. Or can I just walk in with it. If it matters, I'm going to Jackson Arms.

There are a million ways to transport your ammo. Ammo cans are the easiest for me since I reload my own ammo. I do have a few shipping boxes that hold 200 or so rounds of .223 and 400 or so rounds of 9mm. I will put them in a box for short range trips and then but them in a back pack along with my Pistol that is locked.

before i got a range bag, i had my sig p226 unloaded, no mag inside, not cable locked and stored in the factory case, i would put the case in my backpack with a few boxes of store bought ammo. The range I go to doesnt really care if its locked, main thing is that its unloaded

I use a backpack or a shoulder bag. You can lock it by using a small lock in the zippers. It is very incognito.

the boxes the ammo comes in works well.. as do backpacks/small duffel bags...

          for a long gun..
          in short
unloaded and basicly dont point it at people as you drive down the road.. keep it out of sight.. its a long gun so conceled carry rules do not apply..

          for a handgun
          in short:
unloaded.. ammo can be next to it, mags can be loaded but not in the handgun..
in short.. lock it in the trunk.. if you dont have a trunk put a lock on the case/zippers.. a trigger/cable lock is not needed nor is it enough on its own..

          even shorter
unloaded and a lock that keeps others from seeing that its a handgun

my answer is not the end all be all of answers.. but its got the basics..
Boy the way Glen Miller played, songs that made the hit parade, guys like us we had it made, those were the days, and you know where you were then, girls were girls and men were men, mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again, didn't need no welfare states everybody pulled his weight, gee our old Lasalle ran great, those were the days!

          who wants a fishtank?
