Sheriff McGuiness on the radio regarding CCW

Did anyone hear the bit about CCW on Armstrong and Getty show this morning? They had sheriff McGuiness call in and talk about CCW issuance in Sacramento. This is the same sheriff McGuiness in Sykes vs McGuiness.

He claimed that in 2009 he issued 90 CCW out of 120 that applied. Is there any truth to that considering I thought that it's impossible to get one in sac flat out.

A&G is playing "The best of". They wont be back until after the new year. The show with the Sheriff was before the election I think like October or something.

Their stance was pretty much our stance here on CG. You are going to get denied a CCW in sac because of their politics. Then the sheriff blasted back by saying that it's not true and that he issued something like 90 CCW out of 120 applicants that applied in 2009 and that he always gives everyone a fair shake when they apply. So he pretty much said that there is no truth in the fact that most get denied a CCW in sac.

I don't know. It sounds like the sheriff is full of crap because he made it sound like he was shall issue. But if he was then he won't be notorious with CCW denials and there won't be a lawsuit against him.

Things have changed since even 6 months ago, before that they were correct but thanks to CGF getting a CCW in Sacramento County is relatively easy if you're not prohibited.

^^^ This ^^^ IIRC that segment was from at least four to six months ago. I heard it when it originally ran and it's been a while.

Of course now that he has left office and retired Sheriff McGinness is looking for his next gig, which apparently will be an hour in the afternoon hosting a show on KFBK.
