One eye or two

I use both eyes when shooting handguns. I have to turn my head so my left eye lines up with the sights even tho I am right eye dominant. I have no idea why this is its the only way I'm comfortable shooting. If I try to stand weaver and use both eyes straight on I see doubles passed the sight post.
