Cool. Yeah, I'll stay away from reloads. Thanks for the tip

Just got back from City Arms. They were great to deal with. My 10 day wait begins today. Picking up my Glock 22 on the 21st.

tba02- It was packed in there when I was there so I didn't get a chance to see if they had any lever action .22's

I'm on youtube looking up videos on how to clean/lube glocks since someone suggested that I should clean and lube it before firing it. Anyone have a good video? Or a very good description with pictures? I'm a visual guy

Glocks are one of those guns you don't need to stress too much in this department. I personally clean mine by spraying the internals down with synthetic safe gun scrubber, rub down the dirty parts with a paper towel, and run a bore snake down the barrel 5 times. To lube I just spray a little rem oil on the surfaces where the slide rides on the frame, a little down the barrel with one more run of the bore snake, and just a little bit on all those little moving metal parts in the frame . That's my personal routine but if you went 2000 rounds with out cleaning or oiling you probably wouldn't notice any difference.

you should have your gun by now but one of the best people to talk to down there is "uncle". They are not the cheapest on ammo but they usually have it and they are good people.

research then research some more, read and understand firearm safety. buy the firearm of your choice then once you get it practice safe handling techniques. the more you practice safe handling the more you will not have to think about it.it will be muscle memory. then take some safety classes and learn how to shoot it. and last but not least have fun.

Thinking about ordering some ammo online while I'm on my 10 day waiting period. Came across these two:

Planning to buy the case of 500 Winchester 180gr FMJ for range use and using the Winchester 180gr PDX1 JHP for self defense. Should I go for one box of the PDX1 rounds to see how they shoot first or buy a few? I'm probably going to be ordering from this site, it says: Check local laws before ordering. I did a google search and kept seeing the same Feb. 2011 articles. I assume I can order the ammo online and have it shipped to my house with no problems since it's not February 2011 yet?

By the way, if anyone has any experience with any or both of the ammo I mentioned, please give me your input. Thanks!

Anyone have any input on the ammo I listed above? Really want them to arrive before I pick up the gun

Anyways, I'm new to all of this. Should I buy my ammo there or elsewhere? Is there a break in period with firearms? Do I need to use certain ammo when shooting a brand new gun? Thanks! Can someone give me a brief description of how it's like when buying a gun at the store? I have taken a course on how to use and shoot a firearm. I have an exposed firearm permit from BSIS
Congrats on your first gun purchase. Better start looking for a safe(a big sucker) as you will definetily fill it up as the gun itch gets to you lol

Thanks! Need some ammo too! Been looking at a few online sites and shipping is insane. Are certain ammo illegal in California? I was looking at a website and they had disclaimers saying "residents of so and so state needs to check with local laws before purchasing" I looked at two different types of ammo and one of them listed CA in the disclaimer and the other one didn't. Odd...

Winchester White Box all the way IMO. My first handgun was a Glock as well, and i've put about 3,XXX Winchesters without a problem! I was going to mention that the Wins were clean ammo, but you don't need to clean a glock, it cleans itself, like a cat. Happy shooting man.
