    So I went shooting and...

I cant seem to hit my target.

I have a glock 17 and at 5 yards I could not get on target.

What could be wrong? I think the gun is broken.

99% of the time it is the shooter. But, since you were shooting a Glock, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. I am wondering if you are aware that a Glock 17 uses 9mm ammo and not .17 caliber ammo though.

Seriously, you haven't given enough info. Is this your first time shooting this gun? What kind of shooting experiences do you have? Did you let an experienced shooter try it? What kind of ammo were you shooting? It can make a difference.

Try using snapcaps or dry-firing the gun to determine if you have a flinch. it usually is the shooter.

EDIT: wait you couldn't hit the *5* yd target??

Most civilization is based on cowardice. It's so easy to civilize by teaching cowardice. You water down the standards which would lead to bravery. You restrain the will. You regulate the appetites. You fence in the horizons. You make a law for every movement. You deny the existence of chaos. You teach even the children to breathe slowly. You tame.

Shooting too low or too hi are both usually caused by trigger pull anticipation. Concentrate on your breathing and your sights. Forget about the target, where your bullet is going or when the gun is going to go off. Let the trigger "surprise you". Shoot slow until you have these basics down.

At 5 yards, even someone who's never fired a gun before should be able to get *something* on paper.

I took a friend to the range and he missed the paper at 5 feet!! Not 5 yrds but 5 feet... was kinda funny, we were teasing him that there were blanks in the gun.
