    locking them up

do you lock all of your guns up at night? or do you keep one out, unloaded, safety on, but ready just in case?

I keep a Glock 26 within reach with a full mag, but since when I wake up I'm not necessarily fully paying attention for the first few seconds I don't keep one in the chamber (cause there is no external safety on a glock) but thats just my personal choice there.

If I didn't live alone I would probably use a small easy access lock box for that one.

My guns are always locked up. Most in the safe (some loaded, some not but no chambered rounds) and then there is my "go to" gun in the Gun Vault that is loaded/round chambered, I can get in that pretty quick and it's safe from prying eyes (and hands).

They're all locked up, but my nightstand has a Gun Vault that I can open pretty quickly in the dark, and the Glock in there is ready to go with a round in the chamber and a full magazine.

When I was single and living in Oakland, I kept a loaded (safety on) 12 ga next to my bed. Now that I've married into an extended family that includes little ones who visit sometimes, and moved to a safer neighborhood, the shotgun gets to sleep in the safe.

Au contraire, I unlock the safe when I am home and it stays that way until I leave (no kids).

I keep one out, fully loaded, with no safety(revolver) on the table next to my bed and another(shotgun) fully loaded with the safety off and no round chambered at the foot of the bed. The rest are in an unlocked safe in the closet, I lock it when I leave.

Before the fact, no law against leaving one out and loaded (or with ammo available). After the fact (a kid getting hurt) you are in violation of a few laws.
