They obviously cannot determine the validity of the sender. Your FFl will want at least a copy of the senders ID and usually a signed note stating that this is a gift, but beyond that what can they do?
Also be aware that an interfamilial transfer for an off roster handgun is not something most FFLs are aware of, so don't expect to go into Turners and have them do one.
You'll need to find a very active FFL that usually has been on the forefront of the OLL movement, as they seem to be the most knowledgable on the laws.
