I guess I might be that stupid enough guy,

I have (well I'll say my son has, he lives in Lodi) an old Jennings J22 that never shoots more than one or two rounds without jamming, I think I originally paid 60 or $70 bucks for it new 20+ years ago, I was all excited thinking I would give it to them for $100 bucks and I take that Hundred and put it down on a Phoenix Arms HP22A, then I saw it was for a gift card from Wallyworld or Target, Darn! but I do need a new car seat for my grandson?

Well, obviously if you purchased a crappy gun that you can make profit on that wouldn't make you stupid. But I'm sure the people they are targeting are is the people with decked out AR's and modern semi auto pistols.

It seems to encourage people to think of guns as inherently dangerous, versus thinking about bad people as inherently dangerous.

This is how Arnie was quoted:

Guns are not "on the streets", they are possessed by people. (Well, I can't seem to find any in the street.)

The degree to which our neighborhoods and families become safer as guns are destroyed depends on the people the guns are taken away from - and people who want or need guns to commit crimes are wildly unlikely to hand them in for a $50 Target gift card.

Sure, there are probably a few cases where a gun gets handed in by some 14 year old punk's mom because she found it in his room, or someone hands in Grandpa's guns before crackhead teenager gets ahold of them - but the real effect of these "buybacks" is to reinforce the bull**** "public health" message that treats guns as dangers to be eliminated, not as tools with no inherent moral qualities.

If Arnie really believes what he said, he could pretty easily make California much "safer" by immediately ordering all state law enforcement agencies to melt down their guns - sorry, CHP, state drug cops, etc - but we all know he's not going to do that, because he doesn't really believe that every gun is dangerous. He believes what the rest of the people on Calguns know - that guns are tools for good in the hands of good people, and tools for evil in the hands of evil people.

Too bad he didn't say "Every time we put a gang member in prison, our neighborhoods and families are safer" or "Every time we arm a good person, their neighborhood and family is safer."

A Walmart giftcard would be good for buying ammo . . .

From what I understand from one of last years events ( I have relatives in law enforcement), it generally is a dumping point for hot weapons, most of which have serial numbers ground off, unless stated it is up to $150, each type bumps the value 25,50,75 etc. and I'm pretty sure you have to sign for the gift card.

Funny that Arnold who has been seen more than once shooting trap at Oak Tree gun club and even autographed shooters shotgun stocks with his name is so desiring of others turning in their guns.

Sounds like a good opportunity to dump some rusted out, broken, POS junk guns. Then take the cards and buy ammo.

Normally I don't like buybacks, but if they'll take non functional guns, that makes a possitive out of a negative situation.

I believe programs like this one only promote more crime. Punks go out and steel Law abiding peoples guns and trade them in for a profit- No questions asked. It is all so a good opportunity for criminals to get rid of a murder weapon or one used in other types of violent crimes.
