It does not matter They are the best organination for protecting our rights that we have. You people(and myself) would not have squat for firearms etc without them. IF you own ONE firearm you should be a member. Hell even if you only believe in the right to own you should be a member.

Forget the goodies and help yourself by joining. When I send money I often ask to not send the gift so that more of it does good. I bet everyone of you waste more on something(beer/sodas/tobbacco/movies/coffee etc) than what the NRA cost you each year. One not going out to dinner and you could buy membership plus kink in alittle for lobby work.

Stop whining and join and help. I for one am tired of helping to protect you when you are not helping at all. As I kid my buddies I have carried you so long I had to have back surgery.

He does have a point there. While the original post was about when your membership card will arrive, it did quickly turn into a sound off regarding what everyone dislikes most about the NRA (junk mail, crappy gift for joining, etc). The point of joining the NRA is not to receive a free gift in the mail, it is about investing in the protection your own Constitutional rights. You think the hat sucks? How about if no one was lobbying against the draconian gun laws that the Ca legislature is forever dreaming up? I think that would suck more.

I hope no one here thinks the Assembly Safety Committee lifted the 50 round a month restriction from AB962 out of the goodness of their hearts. That is why I belong to and financially support the NRA.

I would have been content with just paying my 5 year dues and getting a membership card. Then in 5 years they can send me a bill for another 5 years. They could probably save a bunch of money if they asked up front if you want the solicitations, probably would not have to hit me up for money so often if they did. I know when given the option I always opt out of stuff like that.

I had no clue I was going to get all the junk mail I was going to get..the hat just seemed kind of insulting to me. To top it all off it wasn't even made here..it was made in China

Congratulations..you are about to experience a deluge of junk mail hitting you up for cash...it's like a panhandler delivered right to your mailbox.

All I got was a crummy hat that doesn't even look like it was made to fit humans.

If you call them up and ask nicely they will stop the twice weekly mailings and email in box flood.

Here's how you end it all:

We compile lists for communications and marketing purposes. We will provide that information to NRA affinity partners who we believe provide goods and/or services that might be useful to NRA members. Contracts with these companies require them to keep the member information strictly confidential and prohibit them from using it for any other purpose. You may ask us to remove you from this list by (1) email: using our Contact Us page, (2) phone: at 1-800-672-3888, (3) mail: at National Rifle Association of America, 11250 Waples Mill Road; Fairfax, VA 22033. We do not provide member information to telemarketers, mailing list brokers, or other companies that are not offering NRA-endorsed services or benefits.

Worked for me after an Email. I get nothing in the mail from NRA, ILA, or any affiliates.

An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

Well that sucks. Maybe you should have sent those funds to the Boxer campaign instead, I'm sure they could have sent you something nicer.
