Not really overkill, it will shoot the same.....well better than another 1911 probably, to me it would be nice to have that really, really nice firearm. A museum piece than can be handed down to my kids and so on.

I <3 my TRP although i sometimes wish i had the railed version... although sometimes i think accessories look lame on 1911s...

i'm waiting to hear someone speak up on the GSRs. i know a LEO who swears by it, but i never had too much contact with one...

I much prefer the copies too...they just do it better for less

If money isn't a concern, the best 1911s for the money are the Dan Wesson (I like the CBOB) and the Springfield TRP

You got a point there buddy. All this time I didnt consider the Colt. And thats thier motto, "Anything else is just a copy". A lot of Legiondary Western and Modern day folks owned a Colt. Wyatt Earp, Wild Bill Hickok, Sargeant York, Jesse James, George Patton. And I believe there was a guy by the name Sam Colt that owned a couple of them as well. But wasnt it John Browning that designed the 1911 .45 ACP?
And what ever happened to the Python?

There are several "what 1911 should I buy?" threads in the California Handguns forum. For example:

                          Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

S&W does not have a series 80 FPS, they use the Swartz system...it works off the grip safety instead of the trigger
