    Full Auto Overrated?

Occasionally there are threads on Calguns about people looking to do the full auto thing in Vegas or where ever. I can see the interest if you've never done it before, but does anyone else not really care for it?

Personally, I'd rather be putting accurate single shots downrange than wasting my rounds not hitting anything (if you are accurate with full auto that's a different story and get mad props ). Of course fully automatic fire does have its uses, but it holds no appeal to me as a civilian.

I shoot full auto every time its available and I dont have to pay for ammo.

As far as useful, seems like it would be ok for suppressing fire or trying to clear a room full of people with no bystanders around, but since I cant recall the last time I had to fight off an organized squad of criminals with a group of friends in the middle of nowhere while carrying a dozen magazines, I prefer a good pump shotgun for actual self defense.

its fun don't get me wrong but there is no accuracy involved. its like spraying water from a hose.Full auto is a waste of money and ammo but it is still fun to do. i dont see what the big deal is about full auto anyway

It's fun to shoot full auto. But I rather do 3-5 round burst.

it might be over rated to some like yourself.for folks living in a free state where ownership is possible i'm looking forward to buying one and adding it to the collection one day.it might not be cheap to shoot but its not like its an everyday shooter,i have other firearms for that.

It does bring a bigger smile to my face than normal shooting. It is fun and everyone should do it at sometime in their life. I do not feel it is over rated.

I'd like to at least have a FA option and decide for myself.

Yep. When a person has to pay for the ammo, link it up, clean the guns, yada, yada, it looses it's appeal pretty quickly.

For those who have never fired them, or maybe never even seen a full auto firearm, it's just the "forbidden fruit" thing.

Shot full auto in the Army during basic training.
Meh, been there, done that, not too exciting in my humble opinion.

Although, for those that have never done it, give it a try! It's pretty cool.

                      With that said...
If I had an opportunity to shoot a Thompson Full Auto, I would jump on it!

It is over rated in a tactical sense but it sure is damn fun. Nothing puts a smile on a persons face faster than a full auto mag dump.

well, actually controled fire would still be better for this...have you seen someone try to control a fullauto on ONE target? its almost impossible...now try with 10+ targets... haha.. I just saw a show on handguns and they were shooting full auto glock..couldnt hit anything on full auto unless it was burst.
