Never leave firearms in vehicles. Even when I am on my way to the range or on the way back, if for example I would stop for some food, I make sure I get a table where I can keep an eye on my vehicle while I ate.

People are crazy, they'll bust your window for $100 GPS or the change in your dash.

Maybe you were thinking that your truck wouldn't attract any attention so why would anyone want to break into your truck?
If your truck is the one as your avatar then I say Nice truck!

Maybe some one knew you had things inside your truck? Did they steal the box attached to the floor board? Or did they actually open it? Sorry for your loss,

Any details as to how your gun was secured. When you mentioned "its box"....factory or was it a lock box? Type and thickness of cable, locks, what was the exact item the cable & box was secured to? And other information? Hours of the theft occurrence? Residential or commercial area? Did you have any pro gun stickers on your truck? It would be beneficial to others to learn from this experience.

May help if you describe your gun here in case it comes up for sale somewhere.

CCW's are issued to those who can demonstrate that they are responsible gun owners. Do you think tying your gun down by a shoestring to your car was a responsible thing to do? The cable lock+box combo was worthless. You take a set of pliers to the cable lock then you run off with the box and worry about opening it later.

I never leave anything unattended in my vehicle that I would shed a tear over if stolen....especially guns.

That sucks...do you have the make, model, number to the firearm. We can keep an eye for online sales.

This is why it is extremely rare for me to leave a gun in the car unattended, and even then only during daylight.

Hope you or the police figures out who did this. Last thing we need is another stolen gun on the streets.

                        Are you an NRA member?

I believe you get $1,000 coverage.

Do you have the make/model/serial number's written down in a secure place?

Gosh you guys, don't you realize that the poor fellow has learned of his mistake the hard way? I doubt he needs this chastisement to know to not ever store a gun that way again. The other advice is good, though: tell pawn shops, tell the police, tell insurance, etc.

Why did you leave your guns sit in your truck over night?
All it takes is a few minutes to bring them inside.

I never leave my guns unattended
