stupidest thing i ever heard thread

ok i got one. i went to TURNERS. ya i know i really should not go there but i was in the area. I know i was low on powder so heck with it. I thought i dont have time to go to the normal spot i will just get a bottle hear. so i went in waited my turn. then the guy asked me if i needed any help. I told him i needed some Winchester 748. He then proceeds to look behind the counter at all of the ammo. i started to almost laugh so i just let him look. After a while the guy next to me asked me what i was looking for. I said i need winchester 748 now he adds in. I never heard of that round what kind of gun is that. Now the clerk hears him say this. Now im almost rolling. did a quick caugh then Said WINCHESTER 748. Its gun powder. So the clerk looks over to someone else and says we dont carry that do we. The guy next to me says so what kind of bullet takes winchester 748 is that a rifle or a hand gun. so my laughing has stopped. Now i proceed to tell both him and the clerk that winchester 748 is gun powder that comes in one lbs bottles here. It is used for both hand gun and rifle in various calibers. For loading your own bullets. The guy then next to me says doesnt that cost like twice the amount of just buying a box of bullets. So then another guy from turners comes over and says what are you looking for. I again repeat winchester 748. He goes " ok i will be right back". then he comes out and gives it to me. As im walking to the cashiers booth. i hear the the customer saying wowwww you can blow up a pretty big hole with that stuff. You gotta be some kind of gun expert to buy that kind of stuff.

ok thats my short story who else has one.

Oh man. hahahaha. I love hearing exchanges like that, whether it's between customers, clerks at various shops (including my own once or twice ), or second hand accounts. There's tons out there I don't know, but I make a point to find out via the correct channels rather than making assumptions. At least you got the powder in the end, and apparently walked out looking like an uber gun genius.

      hey, a new smilie!

I was hunting squirrel in a Natl. Forrest carrying my mini 14 with a 30 round mag. I came across a couple of hikers and struck up a convo asking which direction they were going so I did not shoot in their general direction and what not. They were nice enough, the last question the lady asked me was how did I get a machine gun, "I thought they were outlawed." I did not have the time to give her the full scoop but did explain that it was not a MG. As they walked away I heard her say he seemed like a nice enough guy why did he need a MG?

I couldn't call that guy stupid, he's simply ignorant.

People that don't reload most likely wouldn't know that kind of stuff. We're all ignorant about a lot of things.

I'm not even sure what Turner's is, but I'm thinking that they sell more guns and ammo and other gun supplies, and not all clerks are aware of different powders. Although it is sort of dumb to say "Doesn't it cost more to reload?".

You should have held up the Mini @ told her "This is not a machine gun" then taken out a shoestring and told her "Now this - this is a machine gun".

I was doing DROS once, and the guy fingerprinting me says
"Thats the cleanest print I've ever seen" to which I says
"Well it helps to have a lot of practice"
at which point his jaw dropped, and I smiled
"Give orange me give eat orange me eat orange give me eat orange give me you."

Seriously though Ivanimal, why would ANYONE need a machine gun? Let alone for squirrels. It's not like they're fun to shoot or could become necessary to defend one's liberty from tyranny. No... you're just picking on squirrels.

Last time I was at Turners I was looking for some CLP. I asked the guy where the CLP was, he didn't know what it was. He asked what kind of gun it was for, so I held my tongue and said an AR-15. He asked if it was for the .30 caliber and I said, no, it was .223. "Oh you got one of the .223's..."
