    Soft Case or Hard Case?

Any thoughts on which is better, Pros / Cons, a soft or hard case for an AR-15? I'm new to the game and what like to hear what you think. Thank you to all who respond.

        both.

But i agree with others; a hard case if you ever take it on a plane, and a quality case (ie. Pelican) is pretty much damage-proof.

Hard case for pistols and soft for rifles. I drive a car so the hard rifles cases make transpiration hard.

you can lock soft cases, my edc is locked in a rug and i have no doubts as to the legality.

Re: Soft Case or Hard Case?

For me a soft case fits my needs for a AR. From time to time LA Police Gear has some wicked deals on well made soft AR-15 cases..I got a real nice one for about $30 last year from them. Worth checking with them.

Soft cases for most, with one or two hard cases stored away for planes and such. If I had a hard case for every rifle and shotgun I have, it'll fill a whole damn room. Soft cases you can fold away into a small area for storage.

Thank you for all the feedback. I'm going w/ both. Just picked up a Pelican 1700 and a Soft case which fits perfect.

I've got a hankering for a soft case. Takes up less room when you transport it in a trunk or something. I've actually never needed a hard case's protection abilities as of yet, so soft cases would actually work pretty well for my personal needs.

I guess your mileage may vary.

Soft case: portability, can be used to sit on in a pinch, easy to carry, enough of them can make a bedroll

Hard case: difficult to stow in a car, protects against impact damage, harder to carry long distances
