    How to spend $1000?

I want to get a gun. Either a 1911 or an AR. I have a BHP 9mm, but it would be great to own either 1911 or AR. What would you purchase? It would be great to get a complete AR, but it may be a bit over $1000.

Since you have a handgun already - Go for the AR - I've seen some nice complete rifle for sale here for way under 1k -

You'd be surprised how easy it actually is as long as you have the tools required. Start by purchasing a complete upper and building your own lower. Then once you're more comfortable, work on building an upper from scratch. Check out this video series.

Personally I would go with the 1911. AR15's turn into should fired money pits.

I prefer to shoot handguns so my vote is for a 1911.

I would buy a Benelli M1 Super 90, the AR you can buy later and spread the cost through a period of time if you buy the pieces and put it together.
