I have a machete in a sheath next to my bed, and a loaded (but unchambered) M&P 9MM with 124gr JHP Hydra-shoks in a gunvault in my headboard. Probably not necessary to leave it locked, but I don't currently have a good hiding space near my bed and my #1 fear is that I could come home and someone would use my weapon against me.

It depends where I am. I carry a Cold Steel Recon1 in my pocket all the time, at my computer I have a couple of rifles with bayonets and ammo, and a couple of handguns other places. Then there is my 870.
