    Old ammo?

So today was like Xmas 10 times over...I was given 3 shotguns, a savage 22 bolt action and some ammo for the 16ga shotguns. So my question is.. he said the shells are about 5-10 years old. They look practically new minus some blemishes on the brass itself. I am wondering if i would be able to shoot it off?

Im afraid to go out and do it before finding out if i could or not. What could happen? misfire? blow up? or just be like normal?

One of the guns is a semi auto browning 16ga shotgun from 1935 with original paperwork (which is in amazing condition) in 1965 it was sent to the manufacturer to get set up to shoot 2 3/4 shells. Whats awesome is that the receipt said it was $45.60 lol.

So anyways, any help would be appreciated.

    Pics of Ammo:
(and yeah i will never be able to shoot of the rifle ammo, they are pretty rusted) The federal is for a 32 auto, and they look like they just came off of the shelf.

This is the shotgun ammo, I have about 50 boxes of the same thing

    Go for it
    Shouldn't be a problem

They aren't safe, send them to me for proper disposal. Seriously though, they are fine.

The ammo is more like 20-85 years old. It should work fine but, some of it is worth more as a collectible than as ammo.

All your ammo are good to go !!!

But I probably won't shoot them because of their vintage. Its just nice to display a few box of really old ammo ... The Sears stuff are no longer being made, as are the Remington rifle ammo. I think the ammo are WAY more then 10yrs old !!

The #4 shot in the 16ga are not allowed in most shotgun target range, if you choose to shoot them. Big 5 or BassPro sells the 16ga ammo for like $7-8 per box, and Walmart sells everything else you need.

The UMC box looks pretty old certainly more than 5-7 years. Hard to tell from a picture but old ammo usually just goes bang...or not. The corrosion is of little concern to me, would try them if the firearm is is good condition (me).

The Remington 257 Roberts also looks a bit older than the stated 5-7 years, same strategy.

The Sears shotshells are quite old and the blackening near the base concerns me a bit, are they reloads? Those are the ones I would be cautious about but from what I can see in the picture (a picture doesn't tell the whole story). If you are really concerned take them into a reputable gun store or gunsmith and have them look at both the firearms and the shells. If ok, enjoy!

The 31 came in different grades and configs ... They could go from almost worthless to thousands for a D-grade gun. PICS PLEASE !!!

The black ring is just from the older powder !! They should be fine to shoot ... but again I probably won't shoot'em because of their vintage !!!
