If you lose it, you can go back where you took the test to pay a fee to have one re-issued. The fee is something less than the price to take the test but I'm guessing it expires from when you took the test originally.

So if you lose your card 4 years after taking the test, it'd be best to re-take the test.

Turners are just like Fry's Electronics. They have nice stores and a decent selection, but NEVER EVERY expect customer service. Follow that rule and you will never be disappointed.

Is the "old woman" also grossly overweight? Trying to figure who she is. I had another incident at Turners recently. Got a good deal on a older pistol from a salesman I know to be cool. Anyways he decided to tell me how he calls up a certain customer (who was present) whenever a collection of firearms comes in and lets him buy them all. They don't even make the counter it looks like.

While I know this happens everyday at many gunshops, he doesn't need to go around telling people this and it's poor service I think to not allow others a chance to purchase guns. If this continues, my Turners purchases will be even more limited than what they are now. There will be no reason really for me to continue to go there if I can't find a nice decent priced off list handgun from time to time. Anyone else notice how rediculous Turners ammo prices ahve gotten also? I have spent $1000's of dollars at Turners and maybe bought about 25 guns or so over the years from them but I have noticed in recent years my purchases there especially on ammo have went down.

In fairness to Turners though the online gun rack, although flawed, has caused me to give them more business here and there.

Keep us posted on what Don Small says, tell him to read the calguns comments on Turners! And BTW, why does Krav Maga suck?

You go to the same shop (where you took the test) because they have record of your information and HSC card # on file. I believe it is $10 to have a replacement card issued.

I went to the Turners in Signal Hill to ask about doing a FFL transfer from an out-of-state dealer, I had to spend nearly 5 minutes convincing the salesman that this handgun was on the roster, they quoted me $110 to do the transfer. This included the DROS and according to them, some additional fees required to register the handgun in CA.

I asked another FFL about this supposed handgun registration fee at Turners, and the FFL laughed out loud. Eventually, I found I found an FFL to do the transfer for $60 OTD.

Another thing, I resent paying the extra $5 Turners Handling Fee when doing a DROS. I haven't come across any other stores that charge a handling fee on a DROS.

Most stores charge the 5$ on a DROS (that I've seen anyways), $110 dollars on an out of state dealer firearm sounds about normal, Turners isn't a charity.

I usually don't like being in Turner's though.

No gun store is a charity, but why pay more when you could get better, more well informed and cheaper service at say, Ades or some of the other gunshops?

I like the gunshops that don't charge the extra 5-10 they can when you buy a gun FROM THEM. I can see it on a PPT of course or an internet purchase, but it is a bit cheezy if buying a gun or two from them.

Considering how gun stores in California are diminishing (RIP B&B), I'm glad Turner's are around.

If Turners wasn't around the prices of guns would go up at the local shops.

Everybody has to compete with Turners prices if there is one in the area.

$110 for an out-of-state FFL transfer may be normal to some people if you don't mind paying it. I regularly pay $60 OTD. That,s 50 bucks I've saved which I can spend on ammo. It's more the principle of being lied to, is what bothers me more. The employee in Turners was trying to tell me, that there are additional fees (other than the $25 DROS) to pay the DoJ for registering the handgun. This is clearly not acccurate.

It's not that I don't shop in Turner's. I've bought a couple of guns from there because they had what I wanted, when I wanted it. On the other hand, I've only had positive experiences at the Norwalk branch.

You will be charged for a new card but you don't have to go to the same shop and won't have to take the test again and pay the retake fee. I took mine at the Signal Hill shop, went to the Redondo shop to purchase my Five Seven. They had me on file..i paid the new card fee and that was that. Turner's isn't all that bad. Calguns member Jesse works at the Redondo one. Last time i was in there, picking up my Five Seven he and i bull*****ted about guns for almost an hour.

Its not everyone at turners that is bad but from my experiences the ONLy guy that was cool. Of course he no longer works thare. he knew a lot about guns and steered me away form the POS bring in a sale gun and actually told and showed me the difference on why I want a better gun. but he didnt try to sell me the most expensive thing on the shelf. Most of the other sales guys when you go in there ( and there I mean The Fountain valley store) they either make themselves scarce or simply walk by without acknowledgement. I mean how hard can it be to say Good day sir. i or one of my other associates will be with you in jsut a moment as soon as I finish with this customer or putting this gun away or whatever. I havent been to other Turners locations and yeah I shoudlnt judge the whoel company liek that but the store I go to is near me. i shoudlnt have to go 20-30 miles away to get good service.
I may go back to turners if their attitude and knowledge changes but I doubt it. I found a good FFL and gun shop so i give them my business

Think he means that all the NICE guns at Turner's are way overpriced. They also have some guns meant to get folks into the store.
