    Another "Turners sucks!" thread

OK so a while back wifey washes my 501's, and neglects to remove my wallet. Unfortunately, nestled deep in my BMF, along with a few risque snapshots, and some old punk show ticket stubs, was my HSC card. Needless to all this stuff was pretty much pulp when she fished it out of the washer (funny how the few bucks cash were not destroyed, but never seemed to find their way back) No big deal, the HSC's gonna expire in January anyway, I havent really been buying to many pistols lately, so it wasnt really that urgent to get a replacement.

Anywhoo, fast forward to today (well, last night)...I have a handgun DROS coming up, and need to score a replacement card. I pass Turners Norwalk on the way home, and walk in about 830PM or so. I pay may 25 bucks, and the girlie behind the counter gives me a receipt and tells me to present it and my ID at the hunting counter. OK, I head back there, and there are 2 sales people, the surly old woman doing a DROS, and some older bald chubby guy who I've never seen before, arguing with a customer over the merits/drawbacks of 300WinMag and 300WSM. OK waiting patiently...

8:42PM, the older lady tells me "I'll be right with you." OK...still waiting. The other customer splits, and just as I turn to go to the other end of the counter where the salesman is, some older dude goes right up to him, and shakes his hand and they start BSing about spearfishing and SCUBA and all kinds of crap. I was gonna say something, then I thought well they know each other, I dont wanna be a dick, and besides the other lady is almost done. I think....

About 850 she says "Are you here to take the test?? I can't give it to you, we're out of here at 9."

I said, "I've been patiently standing here for over 10 minutes, waiting to take a test I already paid for, I was even here before these other people, and now your telling me I cant take the test??"

"Thats right sir, you'll have to come back tomorrow"

In a huff, I go to the cashier and ask for my money back, and she tells me she needs the managers approval.

Long story even longer, manager Dave (who in my limited dealings with him, seems to be an honest stand up guy) comes, I plead my case, and he says "Well sir, she is right, we do close at 9, but I'll honor it." I take my test, finish in like 3 minutes, and end up with a perfect score. He makes her fill out my card, I can tell she's mad. I apologize for making her stay 2 minutes past closing, and promise her that I will email Don to let him what a fine bunch of individuals (note, individuals, not team players) he has working in the Norwalk store, especially Barbara. I get this cold look back, with "Your card is good for 5 years, have a good night sir."

Were you wearing your 501's while you were at Turner's? Maybe they were giving you the cold shoulder because you are supporting a rabidly anti-gun corporation by buying and wearing Levis, one that the corporation and all of its heirs give large sums of money each year to the Brady Campaign and other gun banning organizations and gun ban politicians because those politicans support gun bans.

      That's horrible.

I went into the Turners in Fountain Valley for a PPT when one of the salesman responds to another when asked for help with something like "why would I want to do $5 worth of paperwork and tie up $200 in sales."

Other then that, I have not had any bad experiences. Just thought that wasn't something he should have said without knowing how much I have spent at that location.

Of course they didn't want to help you, Krav Maga sucks LOL.

Sorry to hear about the story. I think the biggest thing is pay at Turner's, Don Small is getting what he pays for, and at the going rate, Turner's will be this way all the time. I think he'd hire ILLEGALs if he could get away with it.

I try to avoid them with a passion and do business with my local FFLs, Bright Spot, JW Guns, and Centerfire.

          Have a great Kenpo day

How about more sales people ?

              Yes, customer service is king!

I went to the Tuners in Pasadena, waited for 15 minutes to look at a scope. Well it was a long 15 mintes going onto 25 minutes. It's nice they put in a numbering sysytem but the output is so slow it doesn't matter.

Of couse one of the slaes man was doing hs routine that you need to buy this CA approve lock for you rifle. The rifle came with a lock!

              AGHHHHHH

My best experience with Turner is when they open, Did a PPT in under 15 minutes.

So actually, the thread should be titled, "constipated old ladies suck."

Dude Turners SUCKS. The only tiem I go there kicking and screaming is when one of my buddys ( who i kick and scream at ) wants to look at their overpriced guns. I DO NOT shop at turners. I rather go pay a couple of bucks more somewhere else than deal with their lazy sales reps who all that they want to do is sell you something you dont want in the first place.
I stopped buying guns there 1 1/2 years ago. Not that I buy a ton of guns or anything but I completely stopped shopping there due to their piss poor attitude towards customers. it seems unless youre buying a 700$+ gun they dont want to help you. I went there to do a couple of transfers and the computer is broken but right next to me there is a guy finishing up his DEROs

Yeah, Turners is kind of cold to me too. I walked up and wanted to check out a Yugo SKS and the guy at the counter looked at me like I was a criminal.

Also, I called about a Saiga and they said that it was an Assault Weapon.

                      What a JOKE!

Some years ago, I chose to buy a Remington 870 at a Turners that was on sale. When I went to pick it up, the salesman insisted on reviewing how its integral lock worked and what a great thing it was - I wouldn't need an external lock. I told him I didn't use trigger locks on any of my firearms and I didn't intend to use the Remington's integral lock either. But he insisted, so I obliged.

After ~ 10 minutes of what a great thing it was and how it works, he turns to me and asks if I have a trigger lock allowing me to pick up the gun. I looked at him like he was crazy and said, "But you just spent 10-15 minutes telling me all about how wonderful the integral lock is - why would I possibly need an external one?"

His answer? "Oh...that one doesn't count."

Turners do suck...it's just a place for desperation.

I'd rather get my handguns online..save more $$$.

If you lose or destroy your HSC are you required to go to the same shop that you got your original from? I thought I lost mine once and the guy at the counter made that statement.
