I honestly think the problem is just that everyone thinks they aren't allowed to be centrist.

I like Fred Thompson's stance on gun control, but I dislike the majority of his social stances. I like Guiliani's social stances, but I think he's a douche about gun control. Hilary frightens me because I think she can kill easily with her thighs, so she doesn't even NEED a gun. I'm completely on the fence about McCain. I do believe he's pro-gun, but he's playing to the conservative crowd on social issues to just get their votes, then he'll most likely ignore what they want if he gets elected.

To be honest, everyone is too-far to one side these days, it's kind of sad. We need a resurgence of libertarians I think. I dislike the two-party system as much as I do Ann Coulter (that's a lot for you crazy Ann Coulter-liking folks).

I think they like the fact that she has bewbs more than they like her as a person. She's pretty disgusting, and an attention... craver..

I am thinking that Fred Thompson is a good choice because of the current congress, since it will put a heavy(and I mean heavy) check on his actions on social issues. But he is not an attention whore like McCain is, and so less people are likely to know who he is(unless they are in Tennessee or watched Law and Order regularly).

the problem with your second point is that, while many of us would like that, if one is straight down the middle road, then we get someone like Guliani, and gun control will be there and will be sensible. Having both Pro-gun opinion and moderate views in every other aspect is a loooong shot.
