    HSC - what a joke

Just got back from the gun shop to take the HSC and fondle some pistols. That was the easiest test I think I've ever taken. I was literally laughing at some of the questions.

Ah well... 25 bucks well spent I guess.

Just remember, the clock is ticking until that card expires and you have to renew. So buy a pistol!

Not exactly, $25 bucks wasted on yet another feel-good pile of crap used to hide an additional tax on gun owners.

The HSC is a "feel good" item. It is just to make people think that the Sate of California is protecting them.

Heck, I can't even buy a handgun in CA because I don't have an HSC. I refuse to support it so I'll never buy a handgun.

Yea.. HSC is a joke. If anything.. I would prefer them to make it harder to get a proper firearms license, but lift restrictions on the firearms we have available. I'm not talking about something like a CCW here thats impossible to get unless you have connections or your job helps you obtain one... but atleast something that proves the person has some degree of competency.

It's been a long time since I have taken the driving test at DMV, but the HSC is just like it to me. Not that hard to pass, but it sure doesn't mean you are really ready for the road.

when i was at the gun shop the other day i asked the guy behind the counter if anyone failed the test. he said quite a few do, one person thought a loaded handgun laying on the passenger seat of a car have a legal way to transport the gun.

im glad my BSIS firearm permit counts so i do have to blow an extra $25 on that stupid test.

Mine is going to expire..what a waste of $ to renew. Kind of need it if you want to be eligible to posses a loaned handgun or buy new from FFL's. I'm not really looking to get a COE, but one of these days might have to try that route. I suppose they could make the test $250...what's to stop them.

It's nice to have an exemption. Man what a pointless thing the HSC is. The whole idea pisses me off. Talk about a nanny state.

I look at this one from the opposite direction. Its so flippin easy, that if you can't pass the HSC I genuinely don't want you to own a handgun. So this is the 2A infringement I least care about getting rid of in this state; last on my list to go.

Thats fine... but $25 to the State? I mean c'mon, what cost did they incur to administer that test? A single sheet of paper?

That's because it is the least invasive from the standpoint that it is not a serious impediment to owning a handgun. However it still takes $25 out of a citizen's hands when there is no need for it. They nickel and dime you and pretty soon you have nothing. You are essentially buying your constitutional rights, and that is just wrong.

It took me 10 years to talk myself into taking the test. I finally had to convince myself that the anti's were WANTING me to be pissedoff enough to not take it ... they failed. Now, in the PRK, I have the obligation to buy a handgun every month

The HSC is only in place to deter good people from trying to buy their first handgun. I had to get a new one recently, took me all of 5 minutes and didn't miss a single question. I call it the retard test, as you have to be completely retarded not to pass.
Did I mention this state sucks a fat one?
