When it comes to guns I guess I am too. Technically I love them both.

The difference between Glocks and 1911s are like the difference between your wife and your girlfriend.

The Glock loves and appreciates you, cooks and cleans for you, bears and raises your children, and turns a blind eye to your indiscretions. Her only flaw is that she's no where near as sexy as you want her to be nor is she as freaky in bed. In fact, after all those years of marriage she's a little dull. Still she's the best thing for you, and there is no way you will ever find anyone better.

The 1911 is a super sexy money grubbing whore, who you are completely addicted to and just can't seem to quit no matter how many times she lets you down because she strokes your ego and other things every time you try and leave her. She could careless that your married to your Glock, that just leaves her more time to kick back and spend your money.

Probably because Glocks are much cheaper? Like 1/6th as much. I doubt anybody would opt for a Glock instead of a Springfield Professional.

A FBI agent told me HRT & SWAT were having problems with the S.A. 1911's (civilian Professionals). This had to be at least a year ago. He mentioned the FBI (HRT & SWAT) were looking into an alternative .45acp handgun. He mentioned the Glock 21 as a possibility.

Another LE agency I know bought TRP's for their LEO folks. Numerous problems later, shipments to and from S.A. the TRP's got dumped. Not all the TRP's were junk, but most were less than reliable. I remember one specific problem where there was a bur on the slide next to the firing pin hole. Another gun had the wrong weight recoil spring (too light). They went to H&K USP's and were very happy.

I've seen Colts go through problems with an agency too. So much so that a Colt warranty gunsmith had to set up a table and fix guns (Officers Model) for an academy class. 20+ years ago I saw a slide go down range once. It was only a few feet, but wow!

I know Glocks have been having problems with mounted lights (theirs and aftermarket lights). Years ago Sig 226 9mm frames were cracking, S&W revolvers seizing up after firing magnum rounds and etc. Kinda like recall issues on cars....It happens.

I have a TRP that I used as a duty gun & its been fantastic. My son has one and its been great too. I think when some companies (not just gun companies) get a goverment contract they "pump" the product out faster than what their own quality control can handle.
