A friend of mine in the Marshals service mentioned that his tactical counterparts at FBI HRT and all regional SWAT teams were going back to their original issue Glocks and turning in their Springfield Operator 1911's. Don't know if this was a bureau wide mandate, or just what majority of HRT and SWAT members are opting for, or if the Glocks are the basic agent issued 22/23s or a diff caliber like .45's (Glock 21). Anyone else also heard about this, and if so, why swap out the Springfields?

Will they be selling the surplus Operators on the open market?

Probably because Glocks are much cheaper? Like 1/6th as much. I doubt anybody would opt for a Glock instead of a Springfield Professional.WTS all BNIB: Colt S70 Repro, HK45c, Gen4 G19Comment

they've had on-going problems making their Springfeld Professionals hold up to their training, but it would be hard to believe they'd give up after the "consultants" they've brought it
even if they did give up their Pros, i can imagine that they'd go to the Glock platform like the regular "line troops"...i would think they'd look very hard at the H&K HK45...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

When it comes to guns I guess I am too. Technically I love them both.
The difference between Glocks and 1911s are like the difference between your wife and your girlfriend.
The Glock loves and appreciates you, cooks and cleans for you, bears and raises your children, and turns a blind eye to your indiscretions. Her only flaw is that she's no where near as sexy as you want her to be nor is she as freaky in bed. In fact, after all those years of marriage she's a little dull. Still she's the best thing for you, and there is no way you will ever find anyone better.
The 1911 is a super sexy money grubbing whore, who you are completely addicted to and just can't seem to quit no matter how many times she lets you down because she strokes your ego and other things every time you try and leave her. She could careless that your married to your Glock, that just leaves her more time to kick back and spend your money.
