I refuse to attend this event, as it was poorly scheduled and is guaranteed to help along passage of AB1934.

One week from now, we'll have known whether it'd pass the appropriations committee or not. But no, had to have it right away, and chances are that this is going to guarantee ramrodding it right through.

And of course, idiots shooting off firecrackers coupled with UOC people running around are likely to result in "shots fired" calls instead of MWAG calls.

Couldn't have picked a dumber time if you'd tried.

BTW, before the pns25 leg-humper crowd starts flaming me on this one - I have attended each UOC event in San Diego, and this is the first one I have refused to attend. Prior to CGF's stand-down request, I was UOC'ing on a semi regular basis. There is a solid reason I refuse to take part in this particular, poorly thought out event.

By the way, folks, stay away from the Mission Beach area. The 4th weekend is their busiest weekend of the year for law enforcement in MB, and they bring in LEOs from several counties around. So, you'll be dealing with not just SDPD, but LEOs from other counties who haven't necessarily "read the memo". Moreover, since resources will be concentrated on the coastal area, you have a lower risk of harrassment elsewhere.

So you open carry, and that's all? This sort of reminds me of nudist camp activities.

I read your link. if you have your recording devices on AT ALL TIMES then be prepared to be arrested under wiretapping laws. Even folks in public are entitled to private conversations and if you are openly recording anyone you speak to I hope you let them know.

This actually isn't much of an issue with the kind of voice recorders UOC'ers use. It's typically on your belt, and will only clearly pick up your own conversation and that of people standing right next to you.

CA Legislators, right now: "Hmm, it seems that law-abiding gun owners no longer exist, I guess we don't have to infringe upon them any more. We and our fellow criminals are finally safe. Phew."

CA Legislators, July 5: "EEK, law-abiding gun owners are still alive and well in this country!? We must restart infringing upon them in every way possible! Their very existence is a threat to our International Criminals Union!"

you may not be aware, but OC is happening all over kalifornia. it's more than just you or me or nate. and what's this leg-humper comment all about? kinda rude for you isn't it?

as far as leo's from other counties...all calls still have to go through dispatch and the dispatch routine is now to say "oh, that's legal, leave them alone".

                I know, because I've called.

                So don't sweat it.

I'm well aware of it. Just as I'm aware that one week before the Appropriations committee meets is the worst time you could've possibly done a large-scale event. Frankly, had you waited until after the appropriations committee, I wouldn't have even minded.

You know what I mean - there are a fair number of folks out there who hump Nate's (and your) legs and hang off every (OC-related) post. Nothing against you guys on that point - you're not the ones doing the humping. But the cheerleader squad is likely to take this as more than it is - absolute and complete disagreement with this poorly thought out event.

There are ways to get ahold of LEOs that don't involve going through dispatch. Particularly in MB, for instance. Hear fireworks, remember there was a cop over that-a-way, and run over and tell 'em shots were fired by the evil UOC guys. Firecrackers, drunken idiots, and UOC'ers are a really toxic mix.

I guess you don't know that they're making moves to skip appropriations and going right to the senate for a vote. and that has nothing to do with me (aside from the fact that lori this dumb legislation with you and me and nate in mind).

meh, there is never a good time. the tyrants will never stop, they haven't yet, and frankly it doesn't make a bit of difference if you're bold as brass or meek as a churchmouse...they're going to forge ahead with whatever their agenda is.

....aand I'm sure nothing is going to happen. Besides that, no one shoots off fireworks or gets drunk in public. That's AGAINST the LAW. If its AGAINST the LAW that means people don't do it. Which is why it's ok to render people helpless as long as you pass a law banning rape, murder, and robbery and instead provide for restraining orders and hate crime enhancements.

                    hahahaaaa that one always kills.

                    whoops! tangent.

                      Re: 5th SD OC Event!

Dude, it is the FOURTH OF FRIGGIN JULY. I think it is A-OK to act like somewhat of an AMERICAN. Holy balls.

AB1934 started back when oc was still cool and group events were given somewhat of a blessing. The fate of this bill does not hinge on this activity. This is a small event anyways, who gives a donkey's song about it?

Let's all pop some Zoloft and mellow out.

I will be sure to post photos and audio later of all the people we interact with.

Oh yeah, I will also be the first to let everyone know if someone accuses us of shots fired, just FYI.

                          Nate,

My BIGGEST concern is, as I expressed in an email to you earlier, your informational flyer/page makes NO MENTION about whether this is an UOC or a LOC event.

I didn't check your "FAQ" link, which might mention that the weapons need to be UNloaded, but the text in the large page makes no mention of this very important fact.

You have encouraged people to go out and "OC" and talked about all of the NEW OC'ers and first-timers, but I have to wonder how many of them will be detained/arrested for LOADED Open-Carry tomorrow.

Good luck! I will not be able to attend, but I wish you the best!

They are all informed. This is a very small event.
