Went Shooting with a newbie today

My Son and I went shooting today and invited a friends boyfriend to meet us there. About twenty minutes into shooting he came in. Started him out with a Glock 19, he is a calm laid back guy and his shooting showed it. He did great. At about 10 yards, all around the bulls eye. He shot the Smith and Wesson 1911, 45, Colt combat commander 45, CZ52, Ruger 10/22, a single shot 22 rifle and a bolt action 5 round bolt action 22. We changed the target distance several times. 1st time shooter having the chance to shoot different weapons with my Son explaining all the aspects, from safety to target acquisition made for a perfect first time shooters day. After that we went to Dell taco and was able to answer questions and let him know what a great hobby we have
and he was off to a good start. I hope we created a monster, lol.

That was last week, lol. Today we went to Markley's in Watsonville. That will be it for a couple of weeks.

Always glad to hear of a positive first time shooting! I've conducted a few in my day as well, there's hardly a better feeling than watching someone shoot for their first time and enjoy it.

I've taken my nephew who lives in Texas shooting for the first time last year. This year he's back in CA for a month and I'll be taking him and my eldest daughter to the range again.

The ironic thing his dad is a cop and never shown him safe gun handling nor taken him out to shoot.

I always enjoy taking new people to the range. I like to get other people into the hobby so they will spread the good word.

With all the anti's out there, it's important we all try to introduce at least 1 or 2 new people per year to the shooting sports...and when you find one who stays around, make sure to steer them to CGN and remind them to do the same!

Sounds like a great day. I love taking new people shooting. They always come back saying "That was great! Let's do it again sometime." Never had anyone say "I never want to do that again." I agree that we should all try taking new people to the range if we possibly can.
