Anybody go to a Little Johns Gun Auction in Orange?

Anybody else have experience and bid on anything?

I found this place while handing out AB962 flyers (highlight of that trip - huh).

It was one of the coolest gun selections I've EVER seen. They only have gun auctions (at Phoenix club every 3 months). But some of the coolest stuff you will ever see.

He's right next to St. Joeseph hospital (Grand and La Veta) - in Orange.
I've never seen stuff like they were selling. Blunderbusses, Civil War, recent semi-autos. Everything in between.

The estimated prices on some of their items looke very promising. They were pretty busy, but I BELIEVE the average Joe can go to the auctions and buy guns - bring cash....

CRAP - looks like the next gun auction is in August....

Little John is a great guy and his auctions are alot of fun. You can burn through a bunch of cash at them though...

That was my intent !! (Blowing through a lot of cash)...

Seriously, I'm surprised more folks haven't popped up about this place. I know it's an auction, but good gosh, it has all kinds of C&R AND off list stuff - more than you can believe.. I was really impressed....

Gotta wait until August... probably just as well..

Oh carp, if CALGUNS knows about it, then I'll get shafted on what I want to buy!! J/K

And - of course, Little John is a large man - physically. Not overweight, just BIG.

I sound like a fanboy, have nothing to do with the place, but was just amazed - and not expecting the kind of stuff they had in there.

And they let me walk around and look at stuff. I expected them to kinda throw me out of the place, since none could be bought at the site...

Timing is good. I pick up a pistol in 5 days, and it would be late July before I could buy a handgun anyway!! Although, my buddies keep telling me rifles are where it's at!!!

Post if you've bought there. I'm still curious about the prices and if there are deals etc. Auctions can go both ways.....

Yes, I have bought from them.....some are deals and some go for to much. As stated above it goes both ways...Do you homework.

Very True, the ones that go for too much are typically cause the buyer gets excited and ends up bidding more than it's really worth...auctions generate buying pressure/excitement and people spend more than they normally would...

Little Johns is great, I have gotten a few great deals by a low bid. But, one word of caution, be aware of the buyer's premium. I think it is either 10 to 15% of the winning price. Basically, add 10-15% to your winning price and the sales tax. You can go in person a week before the auction to look at all the guns.

That is a brilliant point. I just read that last night the

                    FINAL PRICE = ( AUCTION price * 1.19 ) + FFL fees.... .10 = seller profit, .09 ~= tax or whatever.

But overall, I grew up helping running our antique shop and we went to plenty of auctions, so am not too concerned about that.

Sounds like if you keep your head and have a fixed firm MAXIMUM price you will pay, could be a great resource.. and fun... Buying guns IS fun!!

Thanks for your input folks.. And post if you've had an experience, I'm getting kinda fired up about this. And no, I don't want to get a CALGUNS meet here - we'd all be bidding against ourselves!!

I have always wanted to go, but since it is during the week I always get busy and forget. I have stopped by their store and looked at their stuff and it is high quality. Most is too fancy for my simple tastes. Or is just too old and valuable for my simple budget, but they sure have a wide variety of stuff.
Guns, and lots of other cool stuff too.

Is there any good buys with all the fees and competition?

He sells a LOT of guns, and has been in business a LOONG time so - there have to be.

They post a list of the guns and the 'estimated selling' prices are lower than you'd expect. So, adding 10% - you're still ahead, unless some dude is bidding against you and REALLY wants it. I included tax, which might or might not be correct...

I posted mainly, because I have not seen this much diversity anywhere and cause the prices 'seemed' reasonable.

                            I'll find out in August!!

There used to be many more deals here but with proxibid being used as well don't expect it due to the many more live bidders now reached.
