    "cool factor"? I don't think that is an accurate way to discribe the practical qualities of either of these weapons. If this site is any indication, it seems to me that the AR has much more of a following for reasons of "cool" than the M1A has. In purely utilitarian terms the M1A can do pretty much whatever the AR can (except weigh less), but not vice versa.

      Is selling the upper and other parts and just keeping the assembled lower out of the question? In either event I'd vote that ar goes buhbye... My 2 cents

          I'll jump on the band wagon here, since I have both rifles and have shot them both ALOT. I'll part with the AR before I let my baby go. If s**t were ever to hit the fan, I want the extra punch of my M14 to keep me alive. Plus, I have thousands of .308 rounds.

            Good eye. yes its a Poly 14. ive done 20o yard iron and just sighted it in after I got the scope. not too crazy about the scope. Im probably gonna go back to iron sights.

              Keep the M14, of course. You can always get another AR-15.
