Which one would you sell if you had these two rifles? Don't worry about the scope thing. I can easily get a scope for the AR. i just haven't had a chance to take it out yet. Ammo cost is really not a huge issue

There is a reason the M14 (M1A?) has been in service for soooooo many years. It is a kick *** all around rifle with power, durability, and accuracy. If I could afford one it would be my do everything rifle.

If I had to sell one, I'd say the AR. You can always build another one of those up piece by piece for fairly cheap later. The M1A...not so much.

Id sell the AR, mainly because when things get better if I needed startup money I could sel the M14 and buy back 2 AR's

Im not sure how to vote here. If you want to thin out your collection but need to keep something purely for utilitarian purposes, you'll need to keep your AR. If you just want to hold on to something for the "cool factor" sell the AR and keep the M14 just because its amazing piece of history and engineering.

Its basically like this

Say you had these two rifles. Your wife tells you that you need to get rid of one. I don't care which one just get rid of one of them. You make up your mind which one you would keep and which you would sell/give away/ destroy/ hulk smash

PS my wife is not telling me to get rid of either one. I'm simply planning on downsizing cause I don't shoot that much anymore. hell IF I get to the range every two months its a miracle these days.
