Excellent Post and I 100% agree. We can be proud NRA members without decals that set off red flags on our car. No gun related hats or shirts is another great advice. The main thing is you OLL guys always keeping your OLL rifle CA legal at all times, even when you're alone in your own home. Follow the law 24/7

BUMPERSTICKERS are another thing. On one of my old K5 Blazers I had I had a "I LOVE EXPLOSIVES" and "Take a bite out of crime, shoot the bastards!" bumperstickers on it and I ALWAYS caught greif from the local LEO's about it. I got pulled over once and the cop harassed me to no end about it trying to get me to admit to having SOMETHING, ANYTHING in my car he could pop me for. I finally got sick of it and asked for his badge number and name and he backed off. Claimed I was speeding, yet pulled me over as I was pulling out of a gas station. If I had told that cop I had a rifle, shotgun or even slingshot in the car there's no doubt in my mind that he woulda yanked me and searched it.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

I would rather think of myself as a constitutional rights activist.

Aren't civil rights granted by man ? where as constitutional rights come from our creator as I understand it.

I plan to get a "support your local Mosque" bumper sticker, seems LEO's are afraid to touch anybody with that for fear of ACLU and lawsuits.

All I would have to say is "are you PROFILING me?"

Yet I dont think that argument works for gun owners. Are you profiling me cause I have a belt fed minigun in the back? yeah.... I dont think they will fear the ACLU on that one.

As for staying low profile, good ideas, its a shame.
I got pulled over in North TX by Dallas going to a gun show just as I got home from a 10month tour in Afghanistan. I had 40mm's attached to clips in my car in plain sight. Cop asked what they were, I said, 40 bofors from an AC-130 wanna see? He smiled, said cool, asked where I was headed. I said a Gun Show in Dallas to give them to some buddies, to which he said, "cool", then asked my speed, gave me a warning and said, "go find some good deals!"

A couple of years ago I worked on a documentary about religions. We went to several churches, synagogues and a couple of mosques.

The mosques were the only houses of worship that had bullet holes in them.

Sorry its late so maybe I'm not understanding your tack.

The Constitution is the Highest law in the land and its associated with our rights is it not ?

whats the avoidance for ? Or is it the 14th Amendment citizen thing. AKA only a Constitutional Citizen has Constitutional rights and Civil rights belong to 14th Amendment citizens?

                      Sam,

You're reading too much into my statement. The colloquial understanding of civil rights in America includes constitutional rights. However, you are correct that civil rights are the rights that derive from custom and not form natural or Constitutional rights.

Human rights are basically equivalent to natural rights and it conveys the meaning better than a constitutional rights activist.

However, I had chosen "civil rights" to draw the parallel to folks who went into the south to end segregation. They were harassed on the highways and byways by both the police and the Klan. Its not clear who was more deadly in that mix at the time.

I got ya sorry I didn't catch everything you were putting into that I am tired had a long day with a 5 year old.

and it was raining here so he didn't get to go play in the sand box outside.

                        Many tempter tantrums today.

We still have segregation its just along class lines now and the lines of color and or race seem to have been blurred. or at least thats my take on things like that.

I'll agree with all but for your highway driving advice of staying in a pack of cell phone talking, iPod listening, and portable DVD watching drivers traveling together at 80 mph down the road. I'd much rather live to be stopped and searched by the police rather than be extracted with the jaws of life by one. You'll not catch me driving in a pack of idiots other than to pass through them to re-establish myself out in the middle between two.

Your first tip is the best - wear your seat belt, don't tint your windows to 70%, and keep your car registered and all those other things that invite the police into your life and you'll find yourself happier.

I would also throw in keep a low profile at your house/apartment too. Transport your gear to your vehicle in a manner that doesn't shout gun owner! come rob me later.

Another piece of advice I have is to not to go looking for trouble. Stay out of biker bars, away from drugs, and out of the bad areas of town especially after dark.
